Hello friends! Despite a busy schedule and other life complications, I've been receiving more foster requests for exotic animals in need. While I wish I could reopen my doors fully and take in more, I'm currently only able to accept a select few on a case by case basis. Recently, I've taken in a few Cockatiel fosters and this weekend, I'll be rescuing 8-week-old Kune Kune pigs from a life-or-death situation. We also have a few other fosters who aren't ready for adoption yet so they will need to go to either very knowledgeable homes or to another rescue.

Petrie: Assumed male, Green Cheek Conure. Petrie came to us due to extreme aggression. He is incredibly picky on who he will select as his person, if anyone that is. We have also found that he is incredibly hormonal which is most likely a big part of his aggression. We are currently working on getting him to the point where he will allow anyone to change his food and water without attacking and to not become aggressive when someone is near his cage. We have been making good progress in those two areas so far but he has a long ways to go. Our next step was to train him to step up on a stick (he will step up on my finger but attacks everyone else). Petrie really has the potential to be a sweet guy, he also eats his pellets well and loves his chop. If you have extensive experience with avians, particularly with aggression/behavior issues, and would like to take in Petrie please send us a message.

4 Sugar Gliders: We just recently took in a family of 4 sugar gliders as well. We haven't had a ton of time to work with them, get anyone fixed or spruce up their enclosure. The youngest is an offspring of two of the adults and he was born blind. They are all incredibly sweet and haven't bitten at all. These guys need to go to someone (or a rescue) with sugar glider experience who also has the resources/ability to either get the adults fixed or separate out the males and females to avoid further pregnancies. Flurry: Female ferret approximately 3-4 years old. Flurry has been an only ferret her whole life and is happiest that way. She can be nibbly with fingers stuck into her cage but has never broken skin. Outside her cage she is an absolute sweetheart who loves play, jump around and chitter in excitement. She would do best as a single ferret only with no little children.

Penelope: Female hedgehog approximately 2-4 years old. Penelope is a very curious little girl. She loves to come investigate people and new things but can be startled easily. She would probably do best in a quieter home.

Baxter: Adult male red tail boa. Baxter is a big guy who loves to be handled and eats like a champ. Baxter needs to go to a home who has experience with large snakes.

Sylvia: Adult ball python. Sylvia is an absolute sweetheart who enjoys being out and handled daily. She eats very well and would do best in a home with reptile experience.

So without going into any detail we are very sad to say that we are needing to temporarily close down our rescue. This was not an easy decision but an unfortunately necessary one. We will be working on finding homes for our current fosters who are ready for adoption and looking into other avenues for a few fosters who are still in need of specific expertise. We will be making additional posts with that information. We just want to thank everyone for their support and kindness and hope to be able to start helping those in need again soon.

If everyone could give a warm welcome to the newest kid on the block, Petri 😊 This handsome little Green cheek conure joined us a bit ago and is now finally settled in enough to say hello. Petri is here with us to learn the difference between what should and what should not be chewed on (ie people 😉). Despite his bad habits he really is a sweet and loving little guy. With a bit of work he will make an amazing companion to the right adoptee. ❤

We are so happy to announce that Toby, the blue quaker parrot, has found her forever home. She is off to live a spoiled and loved life with someone who absolutely adores quakers. We couldn't be happier for them both 💞
