The biggest of THANK YOU to Frankly Dog Training LLC for inviting us to bring smiles to the students and staff of South Umpqua High School! 🤩🙌😊

When he's not helping our reactive student dogs find their confidence, our very own canine training assistant Oden moonlights as a therapy dog!

Oden LOVES doing his therapy dog job, and he had the best day ever soaking up all the attention and love from the students at Umpqua High.

Folks - did you know that just about any dog with the right aptitude can become a therapy dog? That's right - training your dog to serve your community as a therapy dog is probably easier than you think.

Thank you to everyone who visited our booth at Saving Grace Humane Society's annual Barks & Rec!! What a great day. 💕✨

We are so fortunate to have such a great community of dog lovers in . We loved seeing all of your smiling faces, but our favorite part of today was meeting all of your sweet, cute, smart, capable dogs. 🐾

Our resident canine training assistant Oden does say that eating all the treats you guys gave him was a close second, though.

Congratulations to Jax for earning his Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certificate! 🙌🥳🎉

The CGC evaluation is a 10-point skill test designed to assess a dog's manners and social proficiency. Dogs who pass the CGC demonstrate that they are well-behaved canine citizens, including in public and around unfamiliar people.

Jax is an energetic and perceptive shepherd mix. He possesses a keen intelligence and a propensity for solving problems using his wits and his nose. His mom has worked with him to channel these skills into search and rescue (SAR) work. How cool is that?

We already knew that Jax is a very good boy, but now he's a CERTIFIED good boy.

Jax, we are so proud of you!

If you own a dog, there's a fair chance that you've heard the chatter about "enrichment." You maybe have encountered it online, heard about it from a friend, or had a dog trainer who suggested you add enrichment to your dog's daily routine. If you're an owner who has their thumb firmly on the pulse....

What the heck is "enrichment" anyway? We try to answer that "in a nutshell' in this video.

If you're wondering if you should be practicing enrichment with your dog, the answer is yes. It's easy, and you actually have everything you need already!

Here's one activity to try:

🐾 Grab a bath towel and about a half a cup of your dog's kibble. Optionally, also grab your dog's red or black Kong toy, a licky mat, or any other stuffable dog toy on hand.

🐾 Lay the towel flat. Sprinkle some kibble in one end. Roll the towel up an inch or two so that the kibble is rolled into the towel.

🐾 Sprinkle some more kibble, and repeat.

🐾 Optionally, add treats, wet food, or dog safe peanut butter to your dog's Kong or licky mat. Lay on the towel, and continue to roll it so that the toy(s) are trapped inside. It doesn't need to be neat!

🐾 Repeat until you have enclosed all the kibble and any toys in the rolled up towel.

🐾 Give your DIY enrichment puzzle to your dog to enjoy.

There is no end to the ways to add variation to this game! Change out toys, add a long lasting chew to unpack, tie a knot in the rolled towel, or hide the whole puzzle somewhere in the room and encourage your dog to find it; with a little creativity, there are no limits to the fun you can create!
