If you drive by a pasture on a rainy day, you might notice horses all standing with their hindquarters facing the same direction. There’s actually a reason behind it!

Here’s a little horse science for your rainy day! 🐎

Horses instinctively turn their hindquarters toward the wind and driving rain to help protect themselves from the weather.

🌧️ Protection from the elements: By facing away from the wind and rain, horses help shield their faces, eyes, and ears.

🐴 Natural insulation: Their coats and the way their hair lies help water run off, keeping their skin warmer and drier.

🌬️ Instinctive behavior: This is a natural way horses cope with weather, even when shelter is available.

There’s something about the start of a new month, especially this time of year, that makes you slow down and appreciate the view a little more. Looking down the driveway at the barn, the horses in the pasture, and another season beginning on this land we love so much.
