No show/No calls

If you confirm an appointment and do not show up without no phone call that will be grounds for dismissal. I understand things happen but all it takes is a text or call. This takes appointments away from others who could of made an appointment.

The Soggy Dog Grooming is not accepting New clients at this time. If you have not been to me for a year or more you are considered a new client. This is only because I need to focus on the clients that I have. Thank you.

Dogs do not generalize groomers.

A dog can be perfect for one groomer and terrified for another.
That does not make them bad.
That does not make them difficult.
And that does not mean they should be forced through it.

Dogs know who they feel safe with.

They feel energy.
They feel pressure.
They feel patience.
They feel when someone is truly listening… and when someone is just trying to “get it done.”

Not every dog is meant for every groomer.
Say it again.
Not every dog is meant for every groomer.

And honestly? That’s okay.

Sometimes the most respectful thing you can do is stop blaming the dog, stop trying to make the wrong fit work, and wait for the groomer they actually trust.

The right groomer can change everything.
The right groomer can take a dog from shut down, scared, and defensive… to soft, willing, and calm.

So listen to the dog.
Watch the body language.
Respect the hesitation.
And stop acting like every dog should automatically accept every handler.

They don’t need to be pushed harder.
They need to be heard.

Because when a dog finally finds the groomer they feel safe with, you can see the difference in everything.

And that matters more than ego ever will.

Hot take from your groomer: skipping nail trims because “they’re not that bad” is kind of like saying your shoes don’t fit… but technically you can still walk in them 👀

Your dog’s nails affect more than people realize. They can change how a dog stands, how they walk, how their feet sit on the ground, and overall comfort. So when I mention they should be done more often, I’m not being dramatic — I’m looking out for your pup.

Long nails aren’t just a cosmetic issue. They can make everyday movement uncomfortable, and over time that matters.

So yes… your dog may act like I’ve committed a personal betrayal over a nail trim 😂 but it really is one of those little things that makes a big difference.

Healthy nails = better comfort, better footing, and happier feet. 🐾

Be honest… does your dog handle nail trims like a pro, or like I just ruined their entire week? 😅

Some people think the hardest part of this job is the mess, the long hours, the barking, or how hard it can be on your body.

But for me, it’s something much deeper.

The hardest part is losing a client because they passed away. 💔🐾

When you groom a dog regularly, they become so much more than an appointment on your schedule. You get to know their personality, their little habits, the way they look at you, the way they trust you, and the little pieces of them that make them who they are.

You watch them grow older. You celebrate their progress. You learn what makes them feel safe. You love them in your own way.

So when they’re gone, it hurts.

Not because they were “just a dog” or “just a client” — but because they mattered. They were loved deeply by their family, and they leave a mark on all of us who were lucky enough to know them.

This job comes with so much love, but that love also means heartbreak. And saying goodbye never gets easier.

To every client I’ve lost, please know you were never just another dog to me. I remember you. Always. 🤍

Have you ever lost a pet that left a piece of their heart with you?

💇‍♀️🐶 “Why is dog grooming more expensive than my haircut?”
I hear this question a lot — and I get it! But grooming isn’t just a “haircut.” It’s a full-service, hands-on job that’s closer to cosmetic care + safety handling + pet wellness support all in one appointment.

Here’s what’s built into a professional groom:

🧼 A full spa + hygiene service
Bath, blow-dry, brush-out, nails, ears, sanitary work, paw pads, sometimes glands, sometimes de-shedding… it’s a whole package.

🐾 Your dog can’t “sit still and tell me what hurts”
We’re working with wiggly bodies, anxiety, noise sensitivity, and sometimes fear — while keeping them safe the entire time.

✂️ More equipment + more maintenance
Clippers, blades, shears, dryers, tables, disinfectants, shampoos for different skin/coat needs — plus constant sharpening, replacing, and sanitizing.

🧠 Skill + experience matters
Breed patterns, coat types, matting, skin issues, behavior handling, safe restraint, anatomy… grooming is a trained skill (and ongoing education).

🧽 Time + labor is intense
A haircut for you might be 30–60 minutes.
A full groom can be 1.5–3+ hours of continuous, physical work.

🚐 And if you’re mobile… it’s a whole salon on wheels
Fuel, water, power, maintenance, insurance, scheduling/travel time — it’s a lot more overhead than a standard salon chair.

At the end of the day, you’re not paying for “just hair.”
You’re paying for professional care, safety, cleanliness, skill, and a pup who feels better when it’s done. 💙🐶

Why Some Dogs Hesitate at the Groomer

Some dogs run right through the door.
Some walk in slow.
And some hit the brakes like, “nope, not today.”

If your dog hesitates, it doesn’t mean anyone hurt them or that the groomer isn’t good to them. A lot of dogs just don’t love the process of grooming, even when the person doing it is gentle and patient.

Grooming comes with:

• New smells
• Loud sounds
• Being away from their person
• Standing still
• Dryers, clippers, brushing

It’s a lot of sensory stuff happening all at once, and some dogs are just more sensitive than others. Some had a stressful experience somewhere else. Some just don’t like the “walking through the door” moment, even though they settle once we get started.

Your dog doesn’t have to love grooming to be treated with love during grooming.
My job is to make the whole thing as calm, safe, and predictable as possible and that’s exactly what I focus on every day.

I'm reaching out to my customers for this wonderful person Hailey Faith Herdt . I've know her nearly 20 years and can't say enough about her. She is the most wonderful, pleasant, peaceful Christian person I know. She is starting ANOTHER journey of her 2nd. kidney transplant. I'm asking my wonderful customer to help support Hailey's and purchase a shirt. I just bought 2 and plan on donating as much as I can for this wonderful young woman. .

Here is her story form the mouth of her wonderful mother Jennifer Hardy . Love you Hailey.

At just 11 years old, Hailey Faith Herdt received a life-saving kidney transplant that carried her through the next 18 years. Now, at 29, that kidney is failing, and she's facing another transplant while juggling repeated hospital stays and overwhelming medical bills.

Through every setback, Hailey's strong faith has been her anchor. She's the kind of person who prays for others even on her hardest days, who shows compassion long before she asks for help herself. Anyone who knows her has felt her kindness.

To help cover her medical expenses my life group is selling shirts - each one a reminder of the community standing beside her as she prepares for the fight ahead.

Every shirt purchased help support Hailey's journey and honors the faith and love she's always shared with others.

Each shirt can be ordered by scanning the QR code. Each shirt is $25. Payment can be made via Venmo -Hardy-67. Last 4 digits of the cell is 2307.
