Marley is a very good boy with a plan to continue his car-eer as an actor, keep an eye out for more of his wonderful works and check him out in his breakout role. ⭐
We love to help out all pets, existing clients and new clients alike. All it takes is going for a morning drive on down to see us after scheduling your appointment in advance.
And keep an eye out for other Starrs that will be debuting at Hononegah soon enough 👀 Marley isn't our only one, and we will continue to spotlight our celebri-pets and plenty of our other patients as well.

🚒🔥 Safety first fur-ever! 🔥🚒

Last week our practice manager took a trip to the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Protection District to get our fire extinguishers inspected and up to date for the year! 🧯🐾

It’s a great reminder that fire safety isn’t just important at work — it matters at home too! 💡🏠 Take a few minutes to:
✅ Check your fire extinguishers
✅ Test smoke detectors
✅ Replace batteries if needed
✅ Make sure your CO detectors are functioning properly

Because the only thing we want burning in our homes is the smell of fresh cookies… not emergencies 🍪😅

A little prevention now can help protect both your family AND your furry family members later 🐶🐱❤️

🏅🐕 That’s a WRAP on Move for Mental Wellness Month! 🐕🏅

We closed things out with a tail-wagging good time featuring our 🕵️‍♀️🐾 SCAVENGER HUNT and the legendary 🩺🏃‍♀️ VETERINARY OLYMPICS! 🏆💨

From sniffing out clues to friendly clinic competition, this month was full of movement, laughter, teamwork, popsicles, wellness walks, and supporting one another 💙🧠✨

And drumroll, please… 🥁🐾 our team finished in 10th place! 🎉🏅 We’re so excited and incredibly proud of our crew for showing up and moving together all month long 💚

You could say things got pretty com-pet-itive around here… 😏🐶

We are SO excited to have Alissa from Rockford Career College joining us as our new extern for the next few months! 💙🩺 She’ll be learning the ropes, helping care for our amazing patients, and getting plenty of hands-on experience along the way. 🐶🐱🐰

Another day, another Move for Mental Wellness moment! 💚✨ We’re feline extra good with 🐾

Our favorite walking buddy, Dr. Pepper 🐶, took us out for some fabulous walkies and sunshine ☀️🐾 Between painting steppingstones and butterflies for our memorial garden 😇🦋, enjoying some much-needed spa-time and “cat naps” 💄💅, and soaking up fresh air, we’re creating the purrrfect memories together 💕

All jokes aside… mental health in veterinary medicine matters. According to the Merck Animal Health Veterinary Wellbeing Study, nearly 1 in 3 veterinary professionals report experiencing serious psychological distress 💚 That’s why taking time to move, connect, laugh, and support one another matters so much.

Because caring for animals starts with caring for the humans behind the stethoscopes 🩺🐶🐱

Move for Mental Wellness? More like Move for Mental MELTness 🍦☀️🧠💚

Today the team took a little paws in the chaos to enjoy lunch together outside and cool off with some popsicles 🍧🐾 Because sometimes wellness isn’t about doing the most… sometimes it’s just:
☀️ Soaking up some sunshine
🍉 Eating lunch with your favorite coworkers
🧊 Preventing yourself from becoming emotionally overheated like a forgotten car snack
🍦 Having a sweet treat and a sweeter moment to slow down

In vet med, things can get a little… melty sometimes. So this month we’re reminding ourselves that taking small breaks matters too. A few minutes outside, a shared laugh, a popsicle that drips down your hand immediately for some reason — it all counts. 💚

Research shows movement and connection can help support mental wellness, but honestly? So can sitting outside pretending your responsibilities don’t exist for 12 glorious minutes. 🌼✨

Move for Mental Wellness? More like Move for Mental WAGNESS 🐾💚🌼
Dr. Barnstable has officially entered his ✨wellness era✨ and honestly? He’s really putting the “move” in Move for Mental Wellness. 🏃‍♂️🍎🌳

This month we’re celebrating the 5th year of MMW — a reminder that movement can help support both mental and physical wellness. And no, that doesn’t mean you suddenly have to train for a marathon. Sometimes wellness is just:
🌼 Stopping to smell flowers dramatically
🍓 Eating healthy snickety snacks
🚶‍♂️ Taking a “mental health walkies” around the park

Dr. Barnstable has fully committed to the assignment, and honestly we support it. Research shows movement can help boost your mood, lower stress, and improve overall well-being… but also it’s a great excuse to go outside and pretend you have your life together for 20 minutes. 🌳✨

Whether it’s stretching, dancing in your kitchen, walking your dog, gardening, yoga, or aggressively speed-walking to the coffee maker ☕ — every little bit counts.

So this week:

Like… a BIG moment. Because this 12-year-old legend just did something incredible…

💙 HE BEAT CANCER 💙

From cozy recovery days after his leg amputation 🛏️❤️, to putting in the work on the water treadmill 🌊🐕, to giving it his all in physical therapy—Kobe has shown us what true strength and determination look like every single day. 🏆

Kobe is the definition of resilience, grit, and still somehow being the sweetest, happiest guy through it all. Seriously—if there were gold medals for attitude, he’d have a whole trophy case by now.

We are SO proud, SO happy, and honestly just SO in awe of him. Getting to be part of stories like this is why we do what we do. 💖🏆✨
