🌲🐾 Out of the Office & Into the Wild! 🏔️

Dr. Barnstable recently traded the hospital for the beautiful scenery of Sunriver, Oregon, where he enjoyed a weekend of continuing education, networking, and some much-needed time to relax! 🌲✨

One of his favorite parts of the trip was learning about improving efficiency in the veterinary hospital—because there’s always something new to learn about working smarter and making our hospital run even better! 🐶🐱💡

And after plenty of hard work at the hospital, we think he earned some time to slow down, enjoy the beautiful surroundings, and recharge. 😎🌲

A BIG shout-out to Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health USA Inc. for putting together such a fantastic weekend and investing in the education and well-being of veterinary professionals. We truly appreciate the opportunities they provide to learn, connect, and grow! 💙

And, of course, a special THANK YOU to our amazing BI representative, Tracey Hilkey Powers! 💙 Tracey always goes above and beyond for our team, and we’re so grateful for everything she does to support Hononegah Animal Hospital and make opportunities like this possible!

We had a pitch-perfect weekend! 😎

Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health USA Inc. gave us the perfect doubleheader: a little continuing education and a whole lot of baseball! ⚾️📚

We got to cover all the bases learning about Lyme disease, ticks, prevention, vaccination, and treatment from Dr. Ed Loebach, DVM, DABVP. 🕷️🦠

Because when it comes to Lyme, we want to strike out ticks before they ever get to first base! 😂

Then it was time to cheer on the Beloit Sky Carp! ⚾️ They played a furbulous game, and we had an absolute ball!

A HUGE thank-you to our amazing rep Tracey Hilkey Powers for organizing such a pitch-perfect afternoon! We appreciate you more than you know! 💙

🪱💩 TAPEWORM PSA: THERE’S A WORM IN THE P**P! 😳

Yep… that is a LIVE TAPEWORM we found here at the hospital. 🤢 And it’s a great reminder that sometimes the p**p tells us more than we’d like to know!

🪱 HOW DO PETS GET TAPEWORMS?
Usually by swallowing an infected flea. 🦟➡️🐶🐱➡️🪱

Even pets on excellent flea & tick prevention can occasionally get tapeworms if they manage to ingest an infected flea before the prevention has a chance to kill it. That’s why year-round flea prevention is still SO important!

💩 WHAT SHOULD YOU WATCH FOR?
• Rice-like pieces in the stool
• Small segments around your pet’s rear end
• Or, unfortunately, moving rice. 😬

If you see something suspicious, call us right away!

🧼 HELP BREAK THE CYCLE:
✔️ Keep ALL pets on consistent flea prevention
✔️ Pick up p**p promptly
✔️ Vacuum and wash pet bedding regularly
✔️ Keep up with regular f***l testing

✈️🐱 HAPPY NATIONAL AMELIA EARHART DAY! 🐱✈️

Today we’re celebrating the birthday of aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart—a woman who didn’t just break the glass ceiling… she flew right through it. 🚀✈️

Amelia was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic, a passionate advocate for women in aviation, and a true trailblazer who proved that sometimes the best way to make history is to simply take off. ✨

But today, Aviator is celebrating all the women who have dared to spread their wings, chart their own course, and reach new heights. 💪✨🐱✈️

Aviator was named because his family has a love of flying planes, so naturally, he has always been destined for great heights. Although, these days, his flight plans mostly include:

🛫 Taking off down the hallway
🛬 Making emergency landings in laps
🐾 Flying into everyone's hearts

From Amelia Earhart to the women in aviation today—and the women making history in every field—we say:

The sky is not the limit. ☁️✈️

Especially when you have the courage to take off. 💙

☀️🎶 I’VE GOT A POCKET, GOT A POCKET FULL OF SUNSHINE! 🎶☀️

Okay, maybe not a pocket… but we DID find a pocket-sized kitten in Boone County! 🐱💛

Our CSR Dana quickly fell in love and decided this little ray of purr-shine needed to come home with her. 🥹🐾

MEET BOONE!😽😻😺

Now she comes to the hospital every day and is officially working toward her new position as:

✨ Professional Cuteness Provider
✨ Future CEO of the Front Desk

🚨💉 BIG STICK NEWS! 💉🚨

Today was a punc-ture moment for our pre-vet student and veterinary assistant, Haily! 🐾💚

She placed her first IV catheter… ON THE FIRST TRY! 🎉👏

Needless to say (😉), we are incredibly proud of her! She really stuck the landing and proved that she has a bright future ahead of her. ✨

Haily is a talented VA, a dedicated pre-vet student, and clearly has a knack for getting to the point 💉😎 We are so excited to watch her continue learning, growing, and poking her way toward her goals!

Help us congratulate Haily on this huge milestone! 🎉👏

With wildfire smoke affecting our air quality today, it’s a good day to keep outdoor time short and sweet! 🚽🐶

🐾 For today:
• Quick potty breaks only
• Skip the long walks and outdoor play
• 🐾 Keep an extra close eye on: pets with respiratory or heart conditions, senior pets, and brachycephalic (short-nosed) breeds.

⚠️ If your pet develops coughing, difficulty breathing, eye irritation, unusual fatigue, or other concerning symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.
