Favorite part of being an RVT at VCA: "Getting to see the variety of complex and fascinating cases is one of my favorite things about working at VCA."

Outside of work: "Checking out new restaurants, gaming, reading, gardening, vegging out with my cat Athena."

Happy Vet Tech Week! This week we're celebrating the Registered Veterinary Technicians who care for our patients every day, and today the spotlight is on Madison K., RVT. 💙

Madison has been an RVT for 5 years and is part of our Surgery team. In Madison's words: "I got into vet med because I've always loved animals, but I've also always had a passion for medicine and anatomy too. Everyone in my family is a healthcare worker and I grew up listening to medical talk at the dinner table, so I decided to combine my interest in medicine with my love for animals."

Favorite part of being an RVT at VCA: "I love what I do, I love helping animals, I love veterinary medicine, and I love my awesome and supportive coworkers who are always lifting each other up and helping one another."

Outside of work: "Boating, reading, camping, cooking, and trying new restaurants. I also have a dog named Riley and she is obsessed with water, so she and I do a lot of swimming and water activities together."

Fun fact: "I'm scuba certified, I have been skydiving, and I have a two-year-old daughter."

If Madison has cared for your pet, tell us in the comments. We'll make sure the message gets passed along. 👇

Happy Vet Tech Week! This week we're celebrating the Registered Veterinary Technicians who care for our patients every day, and today the spotlight is on Katie W., RVT. 💙

Katie has been an RVT for 9 years and is part of our Neurology team. In Katie's words: "In my early 20s I was struggling to answer the age old question: "What do you want to do with your life?" I went to my local junior college, then cosmetology school, then back to junior college and was still not happy. I checked out my local trade school to look into their phlebotomy program, and happened to stumble upon their vet tech course. It sounded right up my alley and I have not looked back since!"

Favorite part of being an RVT at VCA: "My favorite part of being an RVT at VCA is all of the opportunities to learn and grow my skill set!"

Outside of work: "I enjoy playing video games, thrifting, antiquing, collecting records, baking, going to the movies with my husband, volunteering with my local church that I attend. I have a dog named Gracie and a cat named Pancake."

If Katie has cared for your pet, tell us in the comments. We'll make sure the message gets passed along. 👇

Happy Vet Tech Week! This week we're celebrating the Registered Veterinary Technicians who care for our patients every day, and today the spotlight is on Jaimi W., RVT. 💙

Jaimi has been an RVT for 15 years and is part of our Neurology team. In Jaimi's words: "I think I got into vet med for the same reason that most people do; I love animals more than I like people. That has evolved over the years as I realized how much of vet med involves interacting and communicating with clients. Now it is about building trust with animals, especially cats, and being an advocate for an animal that can't advocate for itself."

Favorite part of being an RVT at VCA: "My favorite part of being an RVT at ACC is that I am recognized by much of the staff as the one to go to for spicy cats, or cats in general; I will drop most anything to help, or snuggle, a cat. I also love being an integral part of the diagnostic process for Neurology and Surgery through MRI and CT imaging."

Outside of work: "Hanging out with my husband on our little ranch with all our critters: dogs, cats, horses, goat, sheep, alpaca, and chickens. I also enjoy getting lost in a book, exploring a new city or town, and soaking in the sights and sounds of nature."

Fun fact: "I love book binding; I made the guestbook for my wedding, it is coffin shaped and has its own coffin box, complete with satin padded interior."

If Jaimi has cared for your pet, tell us in the comments. We'll make sure the message gets passed along. 👇

Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.
