🐱💉INDOOR CATS NEED PROTECTION TOO!

Feline Panleukopenia (FPV), sometimes called “feline parvo,” is a highly contagious and potentially deadly viral disease in cats. The good news? Vaccination is one of our strongest tools for prevention. ❤️ One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is: “My cat stays indoors, so they don’t need vaccines.” Unfortunately, staying inside doesn’t eliminate the risk.

FPV is an incredibly hardy virus that can survive in the environment for up to a year. Cats do not necessarily need direct contact with an infected cat to be exposed — the virus can be carried into their environment on contaminated objects, clothing, shoes, equipment and other surfaces.

⚠️ Signs of Feline Panleukopenia may include:
• Loss of appetite
• Lethargy or depression
• High fever
• Vomiting
• Severe diarrhea, which may be bloody
• Dehydration
• Nasal discharge
• Sitting near a water bowl but drinking very little

Kittens, sick cats and unvaccinated cats are especially vulnerable. Without supportive treatment, up to 90% of cats with feline panleukopenia may die. Young kittens are particularly at risk.

💉 This is why vaccination matters.
Feline panleukopenia was once a leading cause of death in cats. Today, it is much less common largely because we have highly effective vaccines available to protect them.

Even if your cat spends their entire life curled up safely on the couch, vaccination provides important protection against a virus that can find its way indoors.

Prevention is powerful. Protect your cat before exposure happens. Call us to schedule an appointment to help keep them protected.
