Furry Friend Friday. 🐾

It's the middle of July, which means the only acceptable state of being is "damp."
Some dogs sip politely. Some claim the water bowl as a personal pool and dare you to say otherwise. Some just stand in the splash and let the day happen to them.

No wrong answers here. Stay cool out there. 💛

Friday at our pet resorts looks like this: 🐾

Dogs settling into their favorite spots like they’ve always lived there. Playgroups that look more like reunions.

Midday naps that happen mid-conversation with staff.
And the quiet confidence of pets who feel at home.

That’s really the job — creating spaces where animals can just be themselves, safely and comfortably, while their people are away.

Here’s a look at this week across our centers. 💛

Summer has a way of changing routines for pet parents. ☀️

More time away from home. More logistics. More moments where someone else is caring for your pet.

And if you’ve been in that season already this year, you know the feeling of handing over the leash — even temporarily — and hoping everything feels familiar and safe on the other side.

That trust is something we don’t take lightly.

For every pet parent who has chosen us as their pet care partner this year: thank you for letting us be part of your pet’s routine. 🐾

A reminder to every pet parent heading into the long weekend:

Your dog does not want to attend the fireworks show.
Your dog does not want to go to the crowded park.
Your dog does not want to meet fifteen new humans at the BBQ.

Your dog wants a cool floor, a quiet corner, a favorite toy, and the specific sock they’ve decided is emotionally important.

And if you’re planning ahead for the weekend — this is exactly what safe, trusted stays are for.

Structured play. Familiar routines. Enrichment activities. Quiet rest breaks. A place where they can actually enjoy the holiday in their own way, without the noise and overwhelm.

That’s the goal: a calm, safe 4th for them, and peace of mind for you. 💛🐾

A short post for the people working holiday weeks in pet care.

You’re not “having a long weekend.”
You’re making long weekends possible for everyone else.

One of the quiet truths of this industry is that when the rest of the world slows down, we speed up. Vacation weeks aren’t vacation weeks in pet care.

So to every team member working through the 4th of July week: thank you.

Thank you for the early mornings, the holiday shifts, the extra walks, the medication reminders, the enrichment sessions, the cleaning, the updates, and the care that allows thousands of pet parents to leave town knowing their pets are safe and loved.

That matters more than most people realize. 🐾

06/26/2026

To every dog currently surveying the backyard because something “smells different,” and there may or may not be thunder later:

We see you. We respect the vigilance. Your commitment to perimeter security does not go unnoticed.

How our locations prep for the 4th of July, behind the scenes. 🏡

It starts in May.

→ Every location's boarding calendar is reviewed and capacity is locked
→ Staff schedules adjust — we add overnight coverage across the holiday week
→ Enrichment plans are rewritten for the holiday — quieter activities, more individual attention

By the time July 1 rolls around, there's a playbook for every pet in our care.

We don't treat the 4th as a high-stress weekend. We treat it as a week where our job matters even more than usual and our pets deserve the best out of office experience they can get.

The 4th of July is the single worst day of the year for pet anxiety — and the single biggest day for pets escaping their homes. 🎆

Some numbers worth sitting with:

• 1 in 5 lost pets goes missing around the 4th
• Shelter intake rates spike by 30–60% the week after
• Fireworks anxiety affects an estimated 45% of dogs — most severely under-diagnosed

What actually works:
• Boarding or daycare — climate-controlled, staffed, far from the noise
• Updating microchip info BEFORE the holiday (not after)
• Not taking pets to fireworks events — it's never worth it
• Creating a calm space indoors: white noise, drawn blinds, familiar smells

If you haven't planned for your pet's 4th yet — this is the week to do it. Find the Best Friends location nearest you: https://ow.ly/TXJG50ZcSM5

A note for everyone working this summer Friday:

Somewhere, a dog is completely asleep in a patch of sun with their out of office turned on. Their only plan for the afternoon is to continue being asleep in that patch of sun. If they move, it will only be to follow the sun as it crosses the floor.

Pretty impressive work-life boundaries, if you think about it.

Have a good one. 💛
