🐶🐱🍽️ Are You Feeding the Right Amount? 🐾

Healthy portions can be surprisingly easy to underestimate! Those extra treats, a little table food, or an extra scoop of kibble can add up faster than you think. 🦴🍪❤️

A few simple habits can make a big difference in your pet’s long term health!

🥣 Measure your pet’s meals instead of guessing
🦴 Remember that treats and chews count toward daily calories
⚖️ Monitor your pet’s weight and body condition regularly
🐾 Adjust portions as your pet’s needs change

Every pet is different! If your furry friend needs to gain or lose weight, avoid drastic dietary changes without veterinary guidance. Our team can help determine an appropriate calorie intake based on your pet’s age, activity level, health, and individual needs. 🩺💕

🐕🐈 Is your pet a careful eater or an expert at convincing you they’re starving? 😂 Tell us in the comments!

🐶👃 Wet Nose or Dry Nose? Here’s What You Should Know! 🐾

A dog’s nose can go from wet to dry throughout the day, and that’s often completely normal! 💕 Changes in nose moisture can happen for several everyday reasons, including:

😴 Sleeping
🌦️ Weather and temperature
🏃 Activity
💧 Hydration

A dry nose by itself doesn’t necessarily mean your dog is sick. Instead, pay attention to your dog’s overall behavior and look for other signs that something may be wrong. 🐾👀

🚨 If a dry nose is accompanied by lethargy, changes in appetite, vomiting, nasal discharge, cracking, sores, or other concerning symptoms, it’s a good idea to check in with your veterinarian.

📞 Have concerns about your dog? Call Flower Valley Veterinary Clinic at (301) 929-1600. We’re here to help keep your pup happy and healthy! ❤️🐶

⚖️🐶🐱 Is Your Pet at a Healthy Weight? 🐾

Sometimes gradual weight gain can be difficult to notice when you see your pet every single day. ❤️🐾 Those extra pounds can sneak up on us!

A healthy body condition involves more than just the number on the scale. Your veterinarian can look at several factors, including:

👀 Ribs and body shape
🐕 Waist and abdominal tuck
💪 Muscle condition
🎂 Age
🏃 Activity level and lifestyle
⚖️ Overall body condition

Every pet is different, so there isn’t one ideal weight that fits every dog or cat. Your veterinarian can help determine an appropriate weight range and create a plan that fits your pet’s individual needs. 🩺💕

🐾 Wondering where your pet falls on the healthy weight scale?

🐶💭 Is Your Dog Trying to Tell You They’re Stressed? 🐾

Dogs don’t always show stress by barking, growling, or trying to escape. Sometimes, their signals can be much more subtle. 👀🐕

Watch for signs such as:

😮‍💨 Repeated yawning
👅 Lip licking
↩️ Turning away
🐾 Trembling or shaking
🐕 A tucked tail
👂 Flattened ears
🍖 Suddenly refusing treats

These behaviors can be ways your dog is communicating that they’re uncomfortable, worried, or overwhelmed. ❤️

Learning to recognize these early signals can help us understand what our dogs need and make potentially stressful experiences more comfortable for them. 🥰🐾

Have concerns about your dog’s behavior or anxiety? We’re here to help!
