Tips for playing with your cat: Part 2!

1. Separate playtime into multiple sessions rather than 1 long one. Cats get bored and frustrated if they STILL can’t catch that toy!

2. Don’t use your hands as toys. Since I have 2 cats, they learn to be gentle with others, but for solitary cats it becomes a painful habit to break.

3. Watch their body language. Flattened ears, a twitching tail, and apparent irritation signal he or she wants to take a break.

4. Rotate your toys. To keep from needing to buy a new toy every week, have 1 group of toys you use for 1 week then another for the next. Now they’ll always have something new to play with!

Tips for playing with your cat:

1. Do what THEY want to do. Indoor cats need more playtime than outdoor cats. They don’t have the exitement of running from raccoons! 🐱🦝😭

2. Sometimes, random objects make the best toys! Don’t feel the need to drop $10 on something that a shoelace could substitute.

3. Use catnip. Put a little sprinkle or pinch on a toy mouse to instantly make it 100x better. Catnip stimulates the brain’s desire to exercise. Use it sparingly, though, as eating a large quantity at once causes stomach issues.

4. Always end playtime with a treat! Since most house cats don’t need to hunt for their food, concluding fun with food completes the natural “hunt -> catch -> eat -> rest -> repeat” cycle.

If your cat is to naughty, gaining weight, sleepy, or bothering you too often, that’s a good sign they are bored. Comment if I should do a part 2, because there are plenty more useful suggestions!

Ok, school just started, so I doubt anybody is planning on taking a trip anytime soon. But, unexpected things come up and Thanksgiving is in 3 months. What it's like to be a pet sitter: Cat edition!

When I arrive at my client's house, I say hi to the cat(s)! Then, I check if the food is at least 75% full, and if it's not, I refill it. I do the same with the water. Next, I clean the litter box. Next, the everyone gets brushed. I always bring a lint roller for myself. The remainder of time gets set aside to playtime! Cats need stimulation, and that’s sometimes hard to come by when their owner is out of town. Of course, i’ll do whatever the owner requests, too. If you’re leaving town and don’t want your pet to get lonely, DM me. I have experience with dogs, cats, chickens, turtles, and parakeets.

Pet owners, are you searching for someone trustworthy to care for your furry friend when you’re out of town? If so, boom! Here am I. I love caring for other individual’s pets when I’m needed and I already have enough experience with my own cats. When I lived in Oregon, I even pet sit for a friend’s turtle (see pictures.)

Let me introduce you to my cats! Their names are Oscar and Spartacus. Oscar isn’t afraid of strangers and has no trouble being pet by foreigners. Spartacus, on the other hand, likes to keep his distance until he’s completely comfortable with whoever’s new. Both are Siamese twin brothers my family adopted September of last year. Over the last 10 months, they have proved themselves to be cuddly, sociable (with the ones they love), and silly! We hope they continue to be healthy and live a long life. Comment who you think is who (see pictures below.)
