🌟🐾 Paw-some Pick of the Day! 🐾🌟

We’re shining the spotlight on our pets with something special: each day, one amazing pet will be featured as our Paw-some Pick of the Day — and for that day only, their adoption fee is waived!

👉Thursday, October 15th's Paw-some Pick is Jabba A0061790455!

Jabba is a very handsome 6-year-old gentleman weighing in at 13 pounds, and he’s hoping to find a special person who will give him the time and patience he needs to shine!

Jabba came into our care as a stray and was never reclaimed, so his background is largely unknown. He’s our resident shy guy, and he’ll need an adopter who understands that the best friendships sometimes take a little time. Jabba will need a chance to settle into his new surroundings, build trust, and warm up at his own pace. With a patient and understanding family willing to let him come out of his shell on his own terms, Jabba can start his next chapter feeling safe and loved.

Could you be the person Jabba is waiting for? Stop by the shelter during our open hours to meet Jabba and the other pets hoping to find their forever homes!

‼🎉ADOPTION UPDATE!🎉‼

❤Remember Larry???❤

Larry’s story began on Halloween 2025, when he came to WCAS as an owner surrender due to a loss of housing. After spending nearly two months waiting for his second chance, Larry’s patience paid off! Just two days before the end of the year, in late December, he found his way into a new home and started the next chapter of his story. ❤️

Larry's adopter shared these wonderful photos & this amazing update with us!
🐾Hello! We adopted Larry in January and just wanted to share an adoption update. He was in the lonely hearts club for having waited awhile to be adopted. Larry is the absolute sweetest boy. He’s very well behaved and does well with everyone - humans and other dogs alike. His favorite toys are still squeaky balls - just like the volunteer told us when we met him! We’re so lucky to have him and thank you for helping him find his way to us.🐾

👀🚨Do you know any of these dogs?🚨👀

‼️We have over 90 dogs at our facility‼️
In the past week, we’ve taken in more than 45 dogs, and our kennels are quickly nearing maximum capacity! We’re urgently hoping to reunite these dogs with their families and need your help spreading the word.

👉If you believe one of these dogs is yours, please call us at 815-319-4100 and one of our call takers can speak with you about next steps OR stop by our facility.

👉We're open today (Wednesday 10/14) until 5pm.

👉Some of these dogs are available for preselect adoption, which means that although the dog is still on their stray hold period and awaiting reclaim by their owner, an interested adopter is able to complete an adoption application and pay the fee to pre-select the animal for adoption. If the dog is not reclaimed, the adoption is finalized and the dog can go home as soon as they're spayed/neutered.

🌟🐾 Paw-some Pick of the Day! 🐾🌟

We’re shining the spotlight on our pets with something special: each day, one amazing pet will be featured as our Paw-some Pick of the Day — and for that day only, their adoption fee is waived!

👉Saturday, October 10th's Paw-some Pick is Dearie A0061675358 !

Dearie is a 2-year-old, 35-pound girl who is ready to find a family of her own. She came to us as a stray and, sadly, was never reclaimed. Now, she’s hoping to leave shelter life behind and start her next chapter with a loving family.

While here at the shelter, Dearie completed a dog introduction and was interested and friendly with her canine companion. The two explored the yard together on dropped leashes, and Dearie showed great social skills by listening to her companion’s correction when she no longer wanted Dearie in her space. Dearie maintained loose body language and a wagging tail throughout, with no signs of aggression or discomfort observed.

Dearie seems to be a friendly girl who knows how to make friends while respecting their boundaries. If you’re looking for a sweet companion to join you on life’s adventures, come meet Dearie!🐱🐶✨
