Rescue work means some days are unpredictable & rough.
Today is a reminder of 2 things: you never know what underlying health issues may be present even in a healthy cat & spay abort is necessary!

We took in a heavily pregnant mama cat for someone a few weeks back but otherwise she appeared healthy & happy! Our plan was to get her spayed & return her back to her family once the babies were done nursing. Unfortunately the universe had other plans….

After giving birth to 5 kittens within 24 hours they began to fade & after 2 days mama was left with no little ones to care for. Unfortunately after giving birth mom developed what we thought was a simple URI so antibiotics were started. As of yesterday we knew there was something more at play - mom appeared to have mouth sores, bad gingivitis & no longer was eating or drinking. We contacted the vet late last night in hopes we could be squeezed in Monday morning!

A BIG THANK YOU to Orangeville Vet Clinic for squeezing us in this morning so we could get this girl the care she needed! The vet said her mouth was once of the worst they had ever seen & he prognosis was not good. She likely had a rare, fatal form of calici & possibly FeLV/FIV. She had arrived doing so well & was so sweet, and to see her in such bad shape broke our hearts. Our concern at this point was her quality of life & we knew she was in so much pain that we made the hard decision to let her go.

Rest easy Mystic. We know you are taking great care of those kittens & we offer our sincerest condolences to your family. This was not the outcome we thought we’d have & we’re so sad this little family didn’t get to enjoy the lives they deserved to live.

Recently we were contacted about week old kittens in need of a place to go. We asked if mom was still around & turns out, she was! We helped their caretaker trap mom & reunite her with her babies.

We’ll care for this little family until the kittens are old enough to be away from mom. At that time, everyone will be fixed & vaccinated. Kittens will be transferred to one of our shelter/rescue partners & mom will be released.

Last month we helped someone with a feral mom & her 3 kittens.

Previously we helped them with a different cat & 4 kittens who had shown up at their house. This mom had been around but disappeared after we caught the first set of kitties.
She came back around this spring with a few little friends in tow!

Thankfully her kittens were on the friendlier side & since they were trapped in Green County, they were able to go with our friends at Green County Humane Society!

Mom is not as friendly so once she is fixed & vaccinated she will be released.

Starting in September our public spay/neuter price will increase to $85.00 per cat.

At the beginning of this year, the clinic we work with raised their prices but we kept our price the same. This means we have been covering $15 per female cat that was brought to each spay/neuter day.
Unfortunately, we are no longer able to financially do this so we’ve had to change our price as well.

A couple months back we were contacted about this sweet soul, Leera. Due to getting older, she was becoming more grumpy (we get that!) & was no longer doing the best health wise. Her family wanted the best for her but needed a little financial assistance so, of course, we said yes!

It’s never easy to make the decision to let our fur family go & we never want finances to make the decision harder.

We’re happy to have helped Leera & her family so she can now feel happy & healthy as she crossed the rainbow bridge. 🌈💜

Last week we got 16 cat/kittens fixed - 10 public kitties & 4 of our rescue kitties. We had 2 additional spaces so we swung by Green County Humane Society & took 2 of their kittens who were needing to be neutered. Aren’t they the cutest?!

It’s that time of year again, we are pleased to announce our 13th Annual Feline Spay and Neuter Clinic, August 24th through the 28th. This is the perfect opportunity to economically get your stray, feral, or barn cats taken care of. Price is $100 per female and $50 per male. Remember the mom & dad we recently returned back after being spayed/neutered?

These are their kittens - the cereal kittens: Cookie Crisp, Crispix, Chex & Alpha-Bits. The 3 boys were not fans of being inside or handling so we found them a great indoor/outdoor home where they could all stay together & be mousers on a farm!
Alpha-Bits, the only female in the crew, was more accepting of handling & seems to enjoy it after you give her a couple pets. She is currently with Green County Humane Society looking for a forever home!

Our friends at GCHS are full of cats & kittens so please consider checking them out & adopt a new furry friend today! 😻

With kitten season upon us, we spend a lot more time & finances to care for our cats/kittens & get them spayed/neutered & up-to-date on needed medical. This is the price of getting 13 rescue cats & kittens spayed/neutered, vaccinated & any additional needs brought up by the examining vet.
