Today was my 10th Barkday. Here is my birth story, as told by Mama:
🎉Today is Lelu's 10th Barkday!!!!
🐕Lelu's Birth Story:
So when I was married my ex-husband and I talked about wanting a dog, but since we lived in a small mobile home we had decided that it wasn't fair to have a dog since we lived in such a small place that didn't have a yard for a dog to run in. We were asked to dogsit for a friend's Boston Terrier named "Mojo" and of course we said yes. We had him for a couple of weeks. After only having him for a few days we came to the conclusion that we could have a dog this size. Our house was big enough for a Boston Terrier to run around in and we had a nice big grassy spot just two doors down where a Boston could run and have fun. So it turn out that our Pastor's, John and Amy Himmelberger, who have Mojo's mom(Cleo) were planning on breeding here within a few weeks. We told them we wanted one of the puppies and of course they said yes.
🐶It was amazing to be there during Cleo's whole pregnancy and watch her get bigger and be able to feel the puppies moving inside of her. So the day came when Cleo went into labor. Amy called me to let me know. I was so excited. So the first puppy arrived, it was a beautiful little girl. Amy sent me a text, with a picture and said "your little girl is here." I was so excited. Lelu had arrived!!!! I think almost 8 hours had gone by and Cleo was in a bit of distress and her labor was not progressing. Amy called the vet and took Cleo in for an emergency C-Section. I think was like 9pm. Amy gives me a call and asked if I can meet her at the vet to help. Of course I say yes(with my medical back ground.) And the vet is just a block away. So I meet Amy there with Cleo and the one puppy. We go into the vet and are taken back to the surgery area. It is just the vet and us, nobody else. Okay, I say. So the vet proceeds to do what she has to do and does the c-section and starts handing puppies to us. The puppies are under anethesia(sp) and we have them in towels and have to dry them off and shake them and be sure all the gunk is out of their lung. It was scary, I will admit it, and amazing and exciting at the same time. We were bringing these brand new puppies back to life!!! Cleo had 3 more puppies via C-Section....2 girls and a boy. After everyone was all taken care of Amy looks at me and says, "You know if you want to have one of the puppies you helped bring into this world you can or you can have the first one born, it is up to you." I decided to take one of the ones I helped come into this world. So that is why I say that Lelu has been the "joy of my life from the moment she was born."
🎂It was amazing because John and Amy were so gracious and let me come over all the time to see Lelu and the other puppies(Poppi, ^Brewster^, who is in Heaven, & Carly.) I would buy little puppy toys for them and Lelu and I would bond and it was just amazing!! I brought Lelu home when she was about 12 weeks old.
💜I love you Lelu. You have made me smile every single day!! You have taken care of me as much as I have taken care of you and I am so thankful for that. You are God's special gift to me.
