Lots of fun training a puppy when there are kids and mowers and strollers and runners! Naomi did great at becoming braver, with her people supporting her! We played several Control Unleashed Pattern Games, and learned to watch the world go by :)

Flag Day, Juneteenth, and July 4th are coming, and along with them, fireworks. Do you have a plan for your dog to help with fireworks? If your dog needs meds, do you have them on hand? Contact your vet ASAP instead of last minute (it's already last minute!)

Some stuff to work on ahead of time:

Practice ahead of time saying a special word and throwing treats, then do it whenever the fireworks go off.
Consider OTC options if not on meds, but try them first to see how well they work.
Have a safe space for the dog that he already feels comfortable in. Give him some good treats in there ahead of time. This might be a crate, with a towel or blanket over top, or a bathtub, or similar space.

When the time actually comes:
Give the meds ahead of time as directed by your vet.
Have the safe space set up and make sure the dog knows it. Consider giving something like a bone or lickimat to help the dog chill out and be occupied.
Be ready with your treats for a party whenever fireworks go off.
Put something on TV that is kinda loud. You want the fireworks to be less noticeable.
Settle in for the night.

Here's hoping you and your dogs have a great time!
