This is a very, very difficult post to make. For all of our puppy family, I just want to let you know that we have had to say “see you later” to both Rocky and Maizy in the last year. They were my world once my babies were old enough to be at school and out involved with sports, 4H, friends, etc.
I feel obligated to let everyone know that we lost Rocky to what we believe was an autoimmune disease triggered by anxiety. He always hated storms etc, but it progressed as he aged. We got new neighbors who frequently fired guns, fireworks, etc and he began refusing to eat, leave the garage, etc. We had bloodwork done and it was always inconclusive, so we can’t be sure. If your baby is anxious, please do all you can to protect them from trauma. Ask your vet about anxiety meds, thunder jackets, etc
We lost Maizy today to Renal Failure. It came on quickly, we fought with everything we could for the last month, but we had to choose what was best for our precious girl. She wasn’t suffering, but our vet said her numbers continued to decline and that she would get very sick, very quickly. I could not let possibility come about, so we gathered around her and let her cross the Rainbow Bridge.
Please talk to your vet about watching for Renal failure in any of your babies. I do not want anyone to go into this blindly. Thank you all for staying connected, keep the pictures of our babies coming. I love seeing how my sweet babies have blessed so many others!
