Meet our newest little survivor, Tony! ❤️

This sweet senior terrier mix was found wandering as a stray in heartbreaking condition. Estimated to be around 8 years old, he arrived at ASL severely emaciated, weighing only 4 pounds. He was badly matted, suffering from double ear infections, and one of his eyes had ruptured and required removal surgery. He is also still awaiting his neuter and much-needed dental work, including extractions.

Despite everything this tiny boy has endured, you would never know it from his spirit. He greets everyone with a wagging tail, happily accepts his medications and treatments, and melts hearts everywhere he goes. Through pain, neglect, and hardship, he has remained nothing but loving, trusting, and gentle. He truly is the best little boy. 🥰

Because he was so underweight, Tony has been on a slow and carefully monitored re-feeding plan, and we are already so proud of the progress he is making.

We can’t wait to continue sharing his journey with all of you as he heals, gains strength, and finally learns what it feels like to be safe and loved.

💔 “Peggy Sue, Peggy Sue…” 🎶🎶🎶— if only someone would sing her name again with love.

At 16 years old, Peggy Sue has lost the one person who meant everything to her. After a lifetime in a home filled with familiarity and love, she now finds herself alone… grieving, waiting, and wondering what comes next.
But even through that heartbreak, Peggy Sue’s gentle spirit shines. She leans into your hand for pets, climbs into your lap like she’s always belonged there, and fills the quiet with the softest, sweetest purrs.

Peggy Sue is also a tripod—she only has three legs and was born that way—but she gets around beautifully. Her strength is quiet, her resilience undeniable… and her heart still wide open.

She has lived peacefully with other cats and would do well in a calm, loving home where she can finally feel safe again.

At 16, she’s not asking for much. Just a warm lap. A soft place to rest. Someone to say her name with love again.

“Peggy Sue… won’t you be mine?” 💜

As per ASL tradition, the last of our giving tree tags are posted below. 🌲 Just to remind everyone, the ASL Giving Tree is an artificial tree that stands in the center of the shelter where we hang a tag with a photo of each animal currently residing in the ASL shelter. Visitors pull the tag off the tree of the shelter animal they wish to sponsor this holiday season. Your sponsorship can be in the form of a gift (toys, wet food, bed, shelter item, etc.) or a financial donation. These are the tags left after our recent open house.

We have more animals currently living in our shelter than normal this time of year, so please help us get all of the ASL animals sponsored! We can’t leave any tag behind! They all deserve a special holiday gift!

Under the photo of the animal you wish to sponsor, add a comment and write, “SPONSORED.” Only the photos without this comment are the animals still waiting for sponsorship. We can do it!

Labeled gifts can be left at the ASL shelter (10 Dubelbeiss Lane 14622) in the rear of the shelter in the brown donation box. Use the unlocked gate entrance anytime! To financially sponsor an animal, visit our website at www.animalserviceleagueny.org. Click on the ‘Donate’ button. You may also mail a check.

Gifts can be accepted through January 15.
