Our medical bills have been piling up, and we’re asking our amazing community to help us turn your empty bottles and cans into much-needed veterinary care! ❤️

Between Rain’s unexpected intestinal blockage and surgery, Sally’s continued medical care and procedures, and Bert & Ernie’s upcoming neuters, it has been one expensive stretch for Ridge’s Rescue. Every returnable truly adds up and helps us keep saying YES when our animals need us. 🩺🐶🐱

🍂🐾 FALL IS HERE… BUT THE BUGS AREN’T GONE! 🐾🍁

Cooler mornings, colorful leaves, hiking adventures, and cozy evenings — fall is a great time to get outside with your pets! 🐶🐱🍂

But don’t let the cooler temperatures fool you… fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, and other parasites can still be a threat well into the fall — and some can remain active year-round. 👀

🕷️ Ticks can stay active even as temperatures drop
🦟 Mosquitoes can continue spreading heartworm until freezing temperatures arrive
🐜 Fleas may hitch a ride indoors and thrive in warm homes
🫀 Monthly preventatives help protect against heartworm, fleas, ticks, and other parasites

Prevention can also help protect against diseases like:

🍁 Lyme Disease
🍁 Ehrlichia
🍁 Anaplasma
🍁 Intestinal parasites and more

As temperatures cool, it can be tempting to stop preventatives — DON’T!

The best protection?

✅ Monthly preventatives
✅ Staying consistent YEAR-ROUND
✅ Checking your pet for ticks after walks, hikes, and time in tall grass or fallen leaves
✅ No skipped doses

📅 Set the reminder
💊 Give the dose
❤️ Protect your best friend

🍂 Falling leaves don’t mean fleas and ticks disappear!

Keep those preventatives going and enjoy all those crisp fall adventures safely with your four-legged family members. 🐶🐱🍁❤️

💌 DEAR SHY STAR’S FUTURE FAMILY…

We don’t know who you are, where you live, or why you haven’t found her yet. But we need you to know this:

She’s waiting for you. ❤️

Shy Star has been with us for over a year. Somehow, this approximately 5-year-old girl is still waiting for someone to see everything we see in her.

When you meet her, she may not show you her whole heart right away. She can be cautious at first, especially with men, and needs patience and time to feel safe.

Please give her that time.

Because once you’re one of her people, you’ll understand why we love her so much.

You’ll get ridiculous wigglebutt greetings. 🥹 You’ll discover how much she LOVES food—including veggies. 🥕 You’ll watch her zoom around the yard and happily destroy the peace with squeaky toys.

And we hope you’re ready for adventures.

Shy Star is a TOTAL adventure dog. 🏕️🐾

She wants walks, hikes, car rides, exploring, new smells and new places. She wants to be your sidekick.

And when the adventure is over? She’ll be just as happy snuggling with her people. ❤️

A few things to know: She’s dog friendly, but cats aren’t her thing. She’s still working on crate training and may bark or whine briefly before settling, so apartment living probably isn’t her best fit.

She isn’t perfect.

But she doesn’t need you to be perfect either.

She needs someone patient and kind—someone who will give her stability and help her understand she isn’t going anywhere again.

So, Shy Star’s future family…

Wherever you are, we hope you find her soon.

She has waited long enough. There are adventures to take, trails to explore, car rides to enjoy, couches to claim—and a lifetime of wigglebutt greetings saved just for you. ❤️

Love,
The people loving her until you get here 🐾

🌧️🐾 RAIN IS OFFICIALLY CLEARED & READY FOR ADOPTION! 🐾🌧️

After everything this girl has been through, we are SO excited to share that Rain has been medically cleared following her intestinal blockage surgery and is officially ready to find her FOREVER FAMILY! 🥹❤️

Let's talk about what a fighter this girl is!

❤️ Survived rodenticide poisoning
❤️ Battled heartworm disease and WON!
❤️ Underwent emergency surgery to remove TWO large pieces of plastic causing an intestinal blockage
❤️ Made a full recovery and is ready for her next chapter!

And through it ALL, Rain has remained the sweetest, most affectionate girl! 🥰

🐶 A LITTLE ABOUT RAIN:

💕 Total lovebug who wants to cuddle ALL THE TIME!

🐾 Dog friendly! She's done well with small dogs, seniors, and her foster sister.

🦮 Walks nicely on leash, unless her nose catches something extra interesting!

🌿 Loves exploring outside! A fenced yard would be ideal.

🧠 Smart girl who knows sit, down, and leave it!

🏠 Crate trained, but prefers not to be left alone for long periods.

🚗 A little restless in the car, so a doggy seat belt is recommended.

💅 Nail trims require a little extra patience.

🦴 POWER CHEWER ALERT! 🦴

Remember those TWO large pieces of plastic removed during surgery? 😬

Rain takes her chewing VERY seriously! This girl needs durable, heavy-duty toys designed for power chewers ONLY! She should ALWAYS be supervised with toys and chews to prevent her from swallowing pieces and ending up in another emergency situation.

No more expensive plastic snacks for you, ma'am! 😂

🏡 RAIN IS READY FOR HER HAPPY ENDING!

She's overcome more than most dogs ever should, and now it's time for her to experience the one thing she's been waiting for — a family to call her own.

Could that be YOU? ❤️

Rain has fought hard for her second chance. Now let's make sure it comes with a forever home. 🌧️❤️🐾

🐾✂️ Spay & Neuter = Save Lives ✂️🐾

Every day, countless dogs and cats enter shelters with nowhere to go. The most effective way to reduce overpopulation and prevent suffering is simple: spay and neuter your pets.

When you spay or neuter, you:

✔️ Prevent unwanted litters
✔️ Reduce the number of homeless animals
✔️ Improve your pet’s health and behavior
✔️ Help rescues like Ridge’s Rescue focus on saving lives—not managing overpopulation

We see firsthand the impact of unplanned litters and overcrowded shelters. Together, we can be part of the solution.

💙 Be responsible. Be compassionate. Spay & neuter.
