This industry gives us an opportunity to see the best of people come out. As we continue to learn through training and experience, we’ve found moments in-between where there are smiles amongst the lessons. But most importantly, there’s knowledge being built each day. Knowledge we need to support the amazing community of Rochester and Olmsted County.

This week, we introduced a brand, new dental x-ray unit to increase proficiency and gain a faster, clearer image of your pets teeth. In doing this, we look to gain better results for faster resolution and better overall pet health! We are excited to continue to advance in the world of Vet medicine!

We had an incredible Doctor join our team back in March here at Broadway Vet. We wanted to share Dr. Kelly's bio and what she brings to our Hospital and the Rochester community.

Dr. Kelly Schiro, DVM
Veterinarian

Dr. Kelly Schiro grew up in Plymouth, Minnesota, and developed a passion for animal care early in life. She attended Iowa State University, where she completed her undergraduate studies in genetics and journalism before continuing on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2022.

Dr. Kelly enjoys practicing small animal medicine and primarily works with dogs and cats. She has a special interest in nutrition, particularly helping pets achieve a healthy weight so they can move more comfortably and live happier, healthier lives. She also enjoys many other aspects of veterinary medicine, including dentistry and surgery.

Dr. Kelly is excited to be part of the Broadway team and looks forward to building relationships with pets and their families in the community. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys spending time outdoors and relaxing with her dog and cat.

Nugget had a great visit for his last kitten vaccine boosters with Dr. Kate yesterday! 💉❤️

He did amazing for all of his pokes and even a blood draw too, while being fed snacks of course. Nothing wrong with a little stress-eating every now and then. Good job little one!

Working on socialization at a young age, playing with feet/mouth/ears/tail, etc. 🐾 are great things to do when you have a young puppy or kitten, as this desensitizes them to life-long routine at-home care (such as teeth brushing/wiping, nail trims, ear cleanings, etc.)….. as well as helps out at future vet visits too! 👍

If these things are “normal” to your pet, then having their ears/mouth/feet etc. checked at the vet will feel like “just another normal day”, and the clinic won’t be such a scary place! 🎉

Just like Nugget is getting used to the clinic, your pet can too! 🥰

And yes, he CHOOSES to be perched on shoulders. 😸
