Praying for patience often provides you with opportunities to become more patient 🫣
This week we hauled horses on a big east loop and as things sometimes go, we ran into a little snag in my plans. Loaded horses Sunday morning and a "service exhaust system see dealer" message popped up in the truck and then rudely threatened limp mode on me in 150 miles. I had 1800 more miles to finish the trip and get home.
GREAT.
We returned to the farm with the horses and were greeted with open arms and a "whatever you need is yours, how can we help you" attitude from strangers. It is overwhelming for me to be the person receiving the help. It makes me emotional to have people roll out the red carpet and offer me whatever needs done with no strings attached. To make sure Callie is safe. To keep the horses for however long I need. I took a breath and knew I had to push back all my pick ups and drop offs for the rest of the trip to get the truck to the dealership the next morning. I hate that. I hate inconveniencing people, I hate not knowing whats wrong or how long ill be down, and i hate not being in control of any of it. I hate feeling like im ruining my kid, being frustrated over the uncertainty, and the overwhelmed feeling i get from being stranded somewhere with a toddler and horses and not being able to get anyone solid answers on how the schedule is going to change. Long story short I decided I wasnt going to be upset but instead wanted to make the most of this hiccup so we took a nap to start the day over and then Callie and I went to lunch. When we were heading back to the barn the truck regened itself, the message went away, and the rest of the day we got to spend time with some really cool people while waiting for the dealership to open monday morning. Pet goats. Mexican food for dinner. Coloring with our new 10 year old friend. A hot shower and a hard c***r. It was fabulous.
There were no messages on the truck when I got up monday morning, no limp mode, no nothing. We still went to the dealership to have them plug in with a scanner to check things out and left in minutes with good news. I just really think we werent supposed to be on the road Sunday. I think God wanted me to make some new lovely friends, maybe he was protecting us from an accident, or getting stuck in the florida heat with a flat tire, or maybe he just wanted me to get a little more sleep before heading back home.
Praying for patience will give you opportunities to learn to be patient. And maybe it also lets you meet some beautiful people, have ice cream with your daughter for lunch, make friends with some goats, and take life a little slower.
Thankful for amazing people i already know, the new ones I just met, and a God who orchestrates all the opportunities.
And if you stayed this long, the chickens name is marshmallow 😆🩷🐥
