🎉🎂 Happy 5th Birthday to our sweet Willow Pillow II! 🎂🎉
Today we celebrate a truly special girl. Willow has been an incredible mama, raising beautiful puppies with patience, love, and the wonderful temperament she passes on to each of them.
As she turns 5, Willow is officially retiring from motherhood. While her days of raising puppies are behind her, she will always be an important and cherished member of our pack. Now it's her turn to simply enjoy life, soak up the cuddles, and be spoiled the way she deserves.
Willow is fiercely loyal, highly food motivated (she never misses the sound of a treat bag! 🍪), and absolutely loves to play. She has brought so much joy to our home and to the many families whose lives have been touched by her puppies.
Happy Birthday, Willow Pillow II! Thank you for being such an amazing mommy and an even more amazing companion. Here's to many more years of adventures, belly rubs, treats, and unconditional love. We love you! ❤️🐾

WHAT A BREEDER NEVER SAYS OUT LOUD!!!

🐾 People often think that a breeder lives among perfect dogs, but they forget everything that goes into bringing these little miracles into the world. Photos are sweet, but the reality is intense and demanding.

🐾 Every birth is a lottery. You can prepare, plan, and study everything… but not a single delivery goes exactly as hoped. Every time it feels like the first time, even after years of experience.

🐾 Death is our greatest enemy. A mama who develops complications, a puppy that doesn't make it. It happens unexpectedly and breaks your heart every time.

🐾 Using a good stud dog costs money and effort.
Travel expenses, matings, tests, nighttime care…

🐾 Hoping that everything goes well: diarrhea, infections, stunted growth. Breeding is an investment: financial, emotional, and physical.

🐾 Bottle feeding? Cute, yes… for the first five minutes. But after that, feeding every 2–3 hours, day and night, for weeks. That is pure survival mode, with a whole lot of energy as salvation.

🐾 People often view puppies as “business”: Number of puppies × price = profit!

But they forget the:
• Health & Genetic testing
• Matings
• Show
• Training
• Nutrition
• Veterinarian
• Care and hygiene
• Photoshoots, advertising, website
• Pounds and pounds of food and mountains of p**p!!

What is left? Rarely a gold bar. Let alone a decent hourly wage 😁

🐾 Sleepless nights are inevitable. No weekends, no vacation, no break.

🐾 Who really raises the puppies? The bitch… AND the breeder. Every small infection can threaten an entire litter.

🐾 And the question “Why is it so expensive?” If we got a dollar for every time…the dogs would be eating caviar instead of kibble or meat.

🐾 Future owners always make us worried. A puppy isn't a package you just send off. We choose adopters carefully; sometimes we refuse, sometimes we wait longer.

🐾 Emotional fatigue? We almost never talk about that. The pressure, the responsibility, watching over every detail…and the loneliness during an emergency.

🐾 Sometimes we want to quit…after loss, after setbacks, after exhaustion. Then a pup opens its little eyes… and everything starts all over again.
It is a passion that never lets you go!

🐾 The grief of loss…we rarely talk about that. But with every farewell, a piece of us dies with them. Yet we rise again, for the families still waiting for a puppy.

🐾 Yes, there are beautiful moments. Yes, there is immense joy. But behind every experienced breeder lies a path full of sleepless nights, tears…and an unconditional love for these special animals.♥️🥰♥️

🚨 Because someone has to say it……

As a Golden Retriever breeder with 15+ years of experience we are begging you - STOP letting your vet spay or neuter your dog at 6 months. Please read this before you make that appointment.
We have watched this happen over and over again. A family brings home a beautiful, healthy Golden puppy. Their vet recommends spay/neuter at 6 months. They follow the advice, because why wouldn’t you trust your vet right?

Then at age 3 their dog tears an ACL.
At age 5 they’re diagnosed with bone cancer.
At age 7 they’re gone.
And the research is now screaming at us that EARLY spay/neuter is a massive contributing factor in Goldens specifically.
UC Davis studied this. The results were shocking. Golden Retrievers spayed or neutered before 12 months had SIGNIFICANTLY higher rates of:
🔴 Hip dysplasia
🔴 CCL tears (ACL equivalent in dogs)
🔴 Lymphoma
🔴 Hemangiosarcoma
🔴 Mast cell tumors

These are not rare conditions. These are the exact things Golden Retriever owners deal with every single day. S*x hormones are not just about reproduction. They regulate bone growth, joint development, and immune function. Cut them off too early and you are robbing your dog’s body of what it needs to develop properly. Yet millions of vets across America are STILL routinely recommending 6 month spay/neuter because that is what they were taught in school 20 years ago. The science has moved. The recommendations haven’t caught up. Find a vet who will have a real conversation with you about timing. If your vet dismisses this conversation entirely, get a second opinion.

Your dog cannot advocate for themselves. You have to do it for them.
Vets, we respect you and we know many of you agree with this. Speak up in the comments. Dog owners, what did YOU do? Did your vet talk to you about timing? Did you experience health problems after early spay/neuter?

***these are just personal opinions based off actual facts and scientific research- however we do understand that having and unfixed dog can cause problems and sometimes there aren’t any other options other than getting the dog spayed/neutered sooner rather than later!

🐾 PUPDATE FROM US PUPPIES! 🐾
We can't believe it, but our time together is getting shorter!
Tomorrow, Alphie (Sleepy) and John (Sneezy) get to go home with their forever families. We are so excited for them, but we're going to miss our brothers. We hope they remember us when they're getting all those extra cuddles and treats! ❤️
On Saturday, Darla (Bashful) and Ace (D***y) will be packing their toys and heading off to their forever homes too. We know their new families are counting down the days.
Quenten (Grumpy) is staying behind for a special 4-week puppy training program. He says he's going to learn all kinds of important things before heading home. We think he just wants extra time playing with us and using the magic door! 🐾
That leaves just Doc and Happy looking for our forever families. We're handsome, sweet boys who love to play, snuggle, explore, and collect as many belly rubs as possible. We've been raised with Puppy Culture, have our microchips, and got a clean bill of health from the vet.
If you're looking for a best friend, a snuggle buddy, and a lifetime companion, maybe one of us is waiting just for you. 💙
Love, Doc & Happy 🐶🐶
We'd really love a family of our own soon! 🏡💕
Please share to help Doc and Happy find their forever families!

We've mastered the magic door! We're working on potty training now. We'll be 7 weeks old tomorrow.

Pupdate... We are 6 weeks old today! 🎉🐾
We had a very big day today. We went to the vet and all of us got a clean bill of health. We also got our vaccines and our microchips, so if we ever get lost, we’ll have a better chance of finding our way back home.
Today was also “pick day,” which was very exciting. Some of us officially found our forever families already. 💛
Doc, D***y, and Happy are still waiting for their perfect match. Until then, we’ll keep practicing our snuggles, puppy kisses, and expert-level shoe lace attacks.
