Today is National Make a Dog's Day, and one of the ways we try to make a dog's day great when they are with us in the shelter is by giving them some time in our offices! Honestly, it's pretty fun for us too 🥰 Zipper had a great time visiting with our staff, playing with toys, and munching on chews today, but we know he'd have an even better time in a home of his own! Just look how much fun he is! Call us if you'd like to meet Zipper or any of our available pets and remember ALL adoption fees are waived through the end of the month thanks to the ASPCA, and : 540-339-9247

Some of the most important work in our shelter happens behind the scenes, and today, we’re shining a little spotlight on one of the people who makes it possible!

Tammy is our Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) and she prefers to stay out of the spotlight, but we couldn’t let National Veterinary Technician Week pass without celebrating her.

From helping ensure every pet is healthy and ready for adoption to providing extra care and attention to animals who are sick and need time to recover, Tammy plays a vital role in giving our pets the best possible chance at a happy, healthy future.

Alongside our veterinarian and veterinary assistant, she’s an essential part of the team working hard every day to keep tails wagging and whiskers twitching!

Tammy, we’re so grateful for the skill, compassion, and dedication you bring to our shelter and the animals who depend on you. Please join us in showing her some love and letting her know just how much she’s appreciated!

And a big THANK YOU to veterinary technicians everywhere for the important work you do for animals and the people who love them. Happy National Veterinary Technician Week! 🐾💜

My, Persephone, what big eyes you have!

Persephone is a little character who enjoys playing fetch with her toy mouse (although she may not bring it back to you!) and has a tendency to travel with her food, grabbing her treats in her mouth to bring it to a separate location to enjoy it all to herself.

Overall she is a sweet girl who will pull you in with her green eyes and cinnamon-swirl fur pattern, and really lean into those chin rubs. Though she's not the loudest kitty, she will occasionally strike up a conversation with you when the mood strikes.

If Persephone sounds like the purr-fect furr-iend for you, then come schedule a meet with her today! Call (540) 339-9247 to learn more!

As a reminder, all adoptions for the rest of the month are waived, making now a great time to meet your newest furry friend! All cat adoptions are
sponsored by the ASPCA's grant and all dog adoptions are sponsored by !

Thank you to everyone who adopted pets last week, October 12-17! We have to send out a HUGE thank you to Southern Team Subaru for passing out lots of freebies for adopted pets and to and the ASPCA for a generous grant that allowed us to waive all adoption fees on Saturday! 15 pets went home on Saturday alone! Thanks again to everyone who adopted...and don't forget — we're continuing to waive adoption fees for the rest of the month!

If you're looking for your new best friend, check out our online adoption gallery on our website! We update it often, so please check back regularly.

Be sure to also check out our Home to Home Gallery on our website for more pets looking for their new homes. We offer this free pet listing service to families who are seeking new homes for their pets in order to avoid surrendering their companions to a shelter. Looking for a dog with wit and charm?

Taran is a bright, intuitive 2-year-old pup who’s continuing to show just how smart and eager to learn he is! He’s doing great with his training, already knows “sit,” and is wonderful at listening and checking in with his person on walks. With his love of treats and willingness to learn, Taran is a pup with so much potential!

This friendly guy loves saying “hi” to new people and is always up for an adventure, whether it’s a long hike or a quick outing. He’s also a great car companion and has done well playing with other dogs!

If you’re looking for an intelligent, social, and trainable best friend who’s ready to keep learning by your side, Taran could be your perfect match! Call (540) 339-9247 to schedule a meet with Taran today!

And if you haven't heard yet, all adoptions for the rest of the month are waived, making now a great time to meet your newest furry friend! All cat adoptions are sponsored by the ASPCA's grant and all dog adoptions are sponsored by !
