We’ve had some educational Lunch and Learns this week during Employee Appreciation Week and that means extra lovin’ for our patients who are in-clinic for the day! 🐶

Yesterday, Dr. Amos got some cuddle time in with Maisie while listening to a presentation (and can you tell from that look back at the camera that she was proud?! 🥹 😆) and today, our Practice Manager Kim stole some snuggles from Snickers, who was still feeling a little sleepy after their dental! ❤️🐾

When our patients get dropped off for the day, we make sure they get a little extra lovin’ while they’re here! 🥰

🐾💙 Employee Appreciation Week: Celebrating Our Veterinary Assistants! 💙🐾

This week, we’re giving a very special shoutout to Sheri, Cheryl, Emma, Kelsey, and Kaitlin, our incredible veterinary assistants!

Veterinary assistants play such an important role in the care we provide every day. They work side-by-side with our doctors and veterinary technicians, helping with patient restraint and handling, collecting patient histories and vital signs, preparing patients and equipment for procedures, assisting with diagnostic testing, supporting treatments, monitoring and comforting patients, and making sure our medical team has what they need to provide the best possible care.

Their job requires attention to detail, technical knowledge, patience, adaptability, teamwork, and a whole lot of compassion. They are often the reassuring hands helping a nervous pet feel safe and an essential part of keeping patient care moving smoothly throughout the day.

Sheri, Cheryl, Emma, Kelsey, and Kaitlin, thank you for the skill, dedication, compassion, and hard work you bring to our patients and our team every single day. We appreciate you more than you know, and we are incredibly lucky to have you as part of our Big Lick Vet family! 🐶🐱❤️

💙🐾 Today we’re celebrating the techs behind the care! 🐾💙

As part of Employee Appreciation Week at Big Lick Vet, we’re shining the spotlight on our amazing current and future Licensed Veterinary Technicians: Melody, Jess, Heather, Jacob, and Leeanne! 👏🏼

Melody, Jess, and Heather are all LVTs with more than a decade of experience each, bringing an incredible amount of knowledge and skill to our patients and team. Melody has been with Big Lick since 2006, Jess since 2020, and Heather since 2022. 😎

Both Jacob and Leeanne are currently enrolled in Blue Ridge Community College’s Veterinary Technology Program. Jacob, who joined Big Lick in 2017, is set to graduate in 2027, while Leeanne, who joined us in 2025, is set to graduate in 2029. 🎓

Being an LVT means so much more than loving animals. It requires annual licensure, education, technical skill, continuing education, attention to detail, and dedication to patient care. From monitoring patients under anesthesia to placing IV catheters, drawing blood, reading cytologies, and performing dental scaling and polishing, their skills are an essential part of what keeps our patients safe and helps our veterinary team provide excellent care. 🩺

To our current LVTs and those working hard to become one: we see the work you put in, we value the knowledge you bring, and we are so thankful to have you on our team. ❤️

Huge thank you to everyone who came out to see us for the second year in a row at Barktober Fest 2026! It was a big success - we met some incredible people and pups and gave away lots of goodies! 🐶🐾

We will be drawing the winners of our raffle to win 1 of 2 cooler gift baskets and announce the winners on Monday 10/05/26, so keep an eye out for that. This year’s baskets are loaded with goodies for you and your pup and even include a free exam valued at $75 AND a free comprehensive lab panel worth $220! 🎟️🏆
