I made a post a while back about retiring Delilah. So much happened after that post with my mom and then Richard’s job that I didn’t really have the energy to pursue the right placement for her. I’ve had a couple of conversations about her casually, but I’ve decided it’s time to take it seriously. I’ve just been dragging my feet and usually that means the timing was wrong anyway.
You must understand that with a retired girl from our program comes a couch and bed spoiled dog that will expect to continue that living situation. They eat when they want, as much as they want, and treats come daily and often. Our babies are crate trained of course for when we aren’t home; and we use doggie doors and p*e pads for potty time. They sleep with us in our beds at night.
Delilah specifically is a loving and playful girl that enjoys the open door to her crate and a lap equally. She uses the doggie door but can’t be bothered to do so at night when it’s dark or when it’s raining, because it could mess up her hair. So she uses p*e pads when she can’t be bothered to go outside.
As a younger girl Delilah was much more dominant and had to be watched with other females, especially alpha ladies, but I’ve noticed over the last several months she’s let go of a lot of that dominance and really just loves to play with anybody who will play with her. Even Peanut. 😆
She loves things to chew like bully sticks and toys, she doesn’t mess with things that don’t belong to her, but will, on occasion find a snack you’ve left behind and consider it hers. She favors potato chips and popcorn mostly. Our girl loves her carbs.
Delilah has no food allergies or skin conditions, she’s healthy and happy and just ready for retired life. She’s 5 years old, still young and full of s***k. She has not been spayed yet. She’s had 4 litters of puppies, 2-3 puppies per litter and that’s been plenty enough for her. She was an excellent mother, never had a single problem whelping or raising her babies. She was the best of the best.
Delilah is such a good girl she could really just stay here and grow old with us, but it wouldn’t be fair to her to lose attention when other girls need one on one attention during their time to be mom.
She absolutely loves to be loved and she will make an excellent companion in a single dog home or in a home with another dog or two that is like minded.
We do not give away our retired dogs. It is too easy to land them in the wrong hands and when I tell you I am more particular about where my adults go than even my puppies I’m not kidding.
You’ll need a vet reference, an application on file, and a phone interview before you’re considered for placement. THIS IS NOT NEGOTIABLE.
