Dear Friends of Upping Stone,

It is hard to believe but today marks Upping Stone’s 3rd anniversary. Never could I have imagined that this day would arrive under the circumstances we find ourselves in. These past two months have been trying to say the least and I have found myself having to make difficult decisions in order to meet the changing needs of my family.

Effective immediately, I will only maintain a limited number of available appointments, all of which are currently filled on a reoccurring basis. I have invested so much into Upping Stone, my education, and my wonderful clients that it is my sincere wish to function at full capacity again in the future. Thank you all for your support over the years and I hope to stay in touch with the many friends I have made along the way.

Honoring Veterans Past, Present, & Future. Thank you for your service!

Pictured below is Operation Cowboy — a mission in April 1945 that brought together American GI’s, German soldiers, and Allied POWs to save the Lippizaner horse from the advancing Red Army. Louis Holz, a lieutenant in Patton’s Second Cavalry, said of the mission, “We thought we had a chance to save a sliver of culture for the rest of the world. We sensed the end of the war was in sight, and we were in a frame of mind to give credence to beauty once again.”

Great SmartPak "Ask the Vet" segment on conditioning your horse. This video gives a good explanation on what happens to your horse physiologically during strenuous work and the need for recovery time after. I am often asked if massage should be a part of that recovery process. Your horse's muscle fibers need time to heal from the microtrauma created during the conditioning process. The best time for massage is actually in preparation for work, giving your horse the ease in motion needed to efficiently complete their job and reduce recovery time.
