Yesterday was a whirlwind for our little rescue pull. I want to lead off with, “She” is actually “He.” Since we pulled him on the first day of October, we named him Gomez, even though he started out looking more like Cousin Itt! At our emergency vet visit he was diagnosed with acute bronchitis. He will be on meds for a few weeks. I also sent out an 🆘 to both our groomers. What a relief for all of us to get him liberated from that filthy, matted, smelly coat!!! Grooming also revealed some lumps and bumps, and dental issues, all that will be assessed at his recheck. Thanks for all the love! We will keep you posted!

We are grateful that this sweet boy’s person was receptive to our inquiry of rescue surrender instead of selling him on a pet page. He’s now neutered and up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, started on preventative, plus a microchip and nail trim! 💜

I’m a little late on posting but these sweethearts are our July saves! One was an owner surrender (adopted today!). The other three are from large agencies that knew these special dogs needed medical treatment and focused, veterinarian supervised care in a non shelter setting. Thanks for letting us assist these great dogs in their healing journeys 💜

We’ve taken on four owner surrender dogs in the last two months. The first senior boy is with a permanent foster living the farm life. Our super senior little girl came to us suffering from malnutrition and years of neglect. She was placed with a hospice foster where she gained weight and received medication to control her advanced arthritis. She got to live the princess life. Sadly, we lost her a week ago.
Another agency connected us with a homeless (her words) woman in Flint who desperately wanted a better situation for her dog and every agency she contacted told her they were full. Dennis and I drove to Flint for a very emotional transfer. This girl went directly to the vet to get current on vaccinations. We had a foster waiting for a working type breed dog. She was fostered for three days an officially adopted into the family. Our fourth surrender was a two day old puppy that the mother dog was actively trying to eliminate. Unfortunately the puppy had sustained life threatening injuries and although our transporter was able to make it to MSU with the puppy still alive, it was determined that beyond the immediate emergency, the puppy was most likely suffering from a congenital defect and was humanely euthanized. The need is never ending. We are grateful to everyone that helps us create an opportunity for health, happiness, and peace. 💜💜💜

Diesel had a real Cinderella story. I grabbed all the lesson money cash I had in the barn and took off when I got a call about a drug addled owner throwing his dogs eight week old puppies up against the side of his brick house. I didn’t make it in time to save them all but I bought them and three of them made it. The boys that survived went on to have long, beautiful lives. You are missed, big boy 🍀 💜 Thanks for the jewelry orders.

What is the bar one must get over to deserve a chance to live? …. Sweet, funny, lovable, housebroken, social, lover of cuddling and tv watching??? Well, Dusty has cleared with room to spare. An untreated ear issue, subsequent infection and eardrum rupture will cause him to lose his left ear. We would love two things for Dusty; Donations toward his surgery scheduled for Friday, and, a home & family that will love this lovable boy forever 💜

So much improvement since Tuesday’s big surgery!!!

If you build it, they will come……. and they have. This is the newest resident in our recently completed private healing space. Hiccup (yes, a brave and tender hearted Viking), has joined us today in his somewhat desperate quest for life. Hit by a car and unclaimed, this dogs situation is so reminiscent of, “Louie,” I couldn’t unsee him. So, here we are, home from Animal Control in Flint and an 🆘 call to our local vet for a quality of life assessment and now pain management and a surgical plan going forward. We were encouraged by Hiccups determination to show us he wanted a chance. Despite a shattered shoulder on one side (he’s going to lose that leg, just like in the movie), a broken leg on the other side, and a broken neck (he has feeling and movement in his tail and back legs) he ate a meal, wagged his tail every single time we spoke to him, and gave out kisses. This is one special dog! We sure could use your help creating a new future for this brave boy. We will keep you posted on his progress. Thank you!!! 💜
