Adoptable Rosie is such a sweet girl.

She lost her family through no fault of her own. They became seriously ill and had to make the incredibly difficult decision to surrender her. When Rosie first arrived, she was understandably a little shut down. She had been through a lot.

But Rosie has been coming around more and more, and we recently got to see even more of her sweet personality when she spent the long holiday weekend in a foster home.

Her foster mom says she’s a very good girl! She comes when called, is an easy walker, mostly housebroken, doesn’t bark, is nonreactive to distractions in the neighborhood, a great napper, and a total cuddle bug.

Her only complaint? Rosie apparently has some very strong opinions about who gets the pillows at night. Spoiler: Rosie does.

Rosie is back at the shelter ready to meet you and find a new forever home. We’re open at noon! For more information on Rosie, head to www.orphansofthestorm.org/adopt-dogs.

Adoptable Goose and Spring had a very important mission at the Pet Palooza event last night at Gurnee Place Memory Care: make friends and soak up as much attention as possible.

And honestly? They crushed it.

Adoptable Spring is the ultimate velcro girl. If you’re sitting down, she’s at your feet. If there’s a lap available, her head is probably in it. She just wants to be close to her people and soak up every ounce of love.

Adoptable Goose is our happy-go-lucky social butterfly who thinks everyone he meets is his new best friend. Give him some attention and you might even get a round of zoomies in return!

A huge thank you to Gurnee Place Memory Care for giving these two the chance to show off their personalities!

Now they just need to find their forever people. Come meet them! We open at noon today! For more information, you can head to www.orphansofthestorm.org/adopt-dogs.

Calling all big-dog lovers! Adoptable Bama is a BIG deal.

And we mean that literally. At 100 pounds, Bama is a whole lot of handsome, a whole lot of personality, and an even bigger sweetheart.

He’s happy, playful, curious, and always ready for his next adventure. He loves to play, explore, and hand out plenty of love. And when it’s time to settle in, this big guy is pretty much housebroken AND crate trained.

Basically, Bama has a big heart, big personality, and plenty of love to give. Ready to make a BIG addition to your family? Bama is waiting!

For more information, head to www.orphansofthestorm.org/adopt-dogs.

Some cats demand your attention. Adoptable Ruby quietly waits for you to notice her.

And she’s been waiting since May.

Ruby is our beautiful, gentle introvert--- a low-key lover who will greet you by brushing against your legs, enjoy affection on her terms, and happily share your space without needing to be the center of attention. She’s a selective cuddler, and we kind of love that about her.

Ruby is looking for a more experienced cat home with teenagers or adults who understand her independent personality and can let her settle in at her own pace. She’s previously spent time in foster homes and has done great--- we think a calm, understanding home is exactly where she’ll shine.

She’s been quietly waiting. It’s finally Ruby’s turn.

Come meet her! For more information, head to www.orphansofthestorm.org/adopt-cats.

Okay, but LOOK AT THAT SMILE.

Adoptable Topsail is hanging out in a foster home right now, and they have had the BEST things to say about this happy guy!

His foster describes Topsail as one of the sweetest and most well-behaved dogs. He loves gently, leaning in for pets, slowly climbing on top of you for snuggles, and just wanting to be wherever his people are. He’s a total people pleaser and has done really well with the other dogs in the home, too!

Topsail is smart, active, and definitely has some energy to burn. His foster thinks he’d be a great candidate for some sort of dog sport or activity where he can put that brain to work. But he absolutely knows how to relax, too. He has his favorite spot on the couch and his preferred sleeping position is upside down, twisted into a “C,” because apparently sleeping normally is boring.

He sleeps in bed with his foster family at night, takes treats gently, and is crated when they leave the house. More than anything, his foster says he just loves company and loves his people. Sweet, smart, goofy, affectionate AND that smile?! Come on. Topsail is ready for his forever home! For more information or to set up a meet with Topsail, reach out to our foster team at [email protected]! You can also learn more about him at www.orphansofthestorm.org/adopt-dogs.

We promised an epic adoption update.

Reese, yes *that* Reese, has been adopted!

Our little snaggle-toothed menace who looked perpetually offended. The one who needed to know what was in every purse, bag and pocket. The one whose facial expressions suggested he was moments away from calling his attorney. Somebody actually saw all of that and said, “Yep. I want that one.”

And honestly?

Respect.

Because underneath that face and all that nosiness, Reese is ridiculously sweet, affectionate and just an all-around wonderful little guy. He really is the best. ❤️

He’s now got a home, a family, unlimited opportunities to be nosy, and an entirely new group of people to inconvenience.

And apparently his new family has already created an Instagram account for him! Check it out and give them a follow: https://www.instagram.com/reeseunfortunately?stkn=MXNjYWozNGF2c281cw==

We’re thrilled for him.

Go forth, Reese. We can’t wait to see what kind of trouble you get into next.

We are OBSESSED with sweet little Eleanor! 🥹💗

At just 8 months old and around 20 pounds, Eleanor may grow a little more, but she’s likely to stay a smaller-medium-sized pup, the perfect size for someone looking for a little dog with a big personality!

Eleanor is SO sweet and comes with some pretty awesome home experience. In her previous home, she was almost completely housebroken, slept in her crate at night (after just a few nights of adjustment), and did well with both another dog and a 5-year-old child.

She’s playful, energetic, affectionate, and LOVES being part of whatever is going on. Sweet, silly, social, and ready for a family of her own, Eleanor is pretty special. Come meet her! She’s at our main shelter and we’re open until 5pm today! For more information on her, head to www.orphansofthestorm.org/adopt-dogs/adopt-puppies.

This is adoptable Reese. Reese would like to speak to the manager.

About what? Unclear.

Maybe his dinner was 4 minutes late.
Maybe you closed your purse before he could inspect it.
Maybe someone told him his snaggle tooth wasn’t intimidating.

Whatever happened, he will be filing a formal complaint. 😂

Despite looking like a tiny man who has been inconvenienced for the LAST TIME, Reese is actually the sweetest, most affectionate guy and we seriously love him. He loves attention, loves his people, and is just an all-around wonderful cat who happens to have a face that suggests otherwise.

He also loves to eat, play, lounge around, and most importantly, go through your stuff.

Purse? He’s in it.
Bag? He’s checking it.
Coat pocket? Suspicious.
Something that crinkles? SEARCH WARRANT.

And then there’s that tooth.

Yes, it’s supposed to look like that.
Yes, he’s healthy.
Yes, it makes every single facial expression approximately 900% funnier.

Reese is handsome. Reese is nosy. Reese is snaggle-toothed. Reese is ridiculously sweet. Reese has questions. And frankly, he’s getting tired of waiting for you to adopt him. Come meet him today! We open at noon and he'll be at our main shelter! For more information on him, head to www.orphansofthestorm.org/adopt-cats
