💙🐾 VET TECH WEEK SPOTLIGHT — PATRICE! 🐾💙

Next up, we’re celebrating Patrice!

Patrice has been part of our Big Bend family since February 2023, and honestly, I don’t know what we would do without her!

She spends her days taking amazing care of our boarding patients, jumping in to help the medical team with patients, and somehow keeping our hospital shiny and smelling fabulous along the way. 😂✨

Patrice truly is one of the wheels that keeps this hospital running. Our entire team relies on her throughout the day, and she is always there when someone needs an extra set of hands.

But what makes Patrice even more special is the energy she brings with her. She keeps us laughing, keeps the mood light on the crazy days, and is just an all-around bright light in our hospital. ☀️

Patrice, thank you for everything you do for our patients, our team, and Big Bend. We appreciate you more than you know, and we are so lucky to have you as part of our family! 💙🐾

💙🐾 VET TECH WEEK SPOTLIGHT — LAURYN! 🐾💙

Next up is the newest member of our Big Bend family — Lauryn! 💙

Lauryn officially joined our team in August 2026, but her story with us actually started a couple of months earlier.

She first came to Big Bend in June because she needed to complete observation hours before starting the Veterinary Technology program at St. Petersburg College. After meeting her, we had a feeling she was going to fit right in with this crazy crew—and we were right! 😂

Lauryn completed all the hours she needed and then came to the manager and said, “Hey, so I’m done with my hours…but can I stay and volunteer?”

Ummm…OF COURSE! 😂💙

She could have finished her hours and moved on, but instead, she wanted to stay, keep learning, and continue helping wherever she could. About a month later, we were lucky enough to officially bring her onto the team part-time!

Since then, Lauryn has settled right in. She picks things up quickly, isn’t afraid to jump in and help, and has already become someone we can count on during the day. It’s hard to believe she’s our newest team member because she already fits in so well.

We are excited to watch Lauryn continue through Vet Tech school, grow in this field, and see what her future at Big Bend holds. 🩺🐾

Lauryn, we are so happy you asked if you could stay! 😂 You are already proving to be a great addition to our Big Bend family, and we’re lucky to have you! 💙

Now let’s spotlight Jessie! 🎉

Jessie has been part of the Big Bend family since February 2025 and works with us every Wednesday. She may only be here one day a week, but trust us… you KNOW when Jessie is here! 😂

Originally from California, Jessie brings over 10 years of veterinary experience along with a passion for surgery and exotic medicine. While we don’t regularly see exotics, when we have an exotic doctor covering, Jessie is definitely in her happy place! 🐍🦎🐰

Jessie brings BIG energy to Big Bend—and yes, she is absolutely the loud one in the group! 😂 She keeps everyone laughing, keeps the team hyped up, and definitely makes Wednesdays a little more entertaining.

But behind all that energy is a ton of knowledge and experience. Jessie is always willing to jump in, lend a hand, answer questions, and turn a moment into a learning opportunity for our newer team members.

We truly appreciate the experience, knowledge, laughs, and energy Jessie brings through our doors every Wednesday. We’re lucky to have you as part of our Big Bend family, Jessie! 💙🐾

💙🐾 VET TECH WEEK SPOTLIGHT — KELLY! 🐾💙

Next up, we’re celebrating Kelly!

Kelly joined our Big Bend family in October 2021 and quickly earned the title of our unofficial work mom. 💙 She keeps an eye on everyone, keeps us in line when needed, and of course, comes equipped with just the right amount of sarcasm. 😂

If you call the clinic, you may be lucky enough to get Kelly on the other end of the phone. She’s one of the familiar voices helping our clients throughout the day and keeping things moving up front.

Kelly is definitely the sarcastic one of the group—and we wouldn’t have her any other way! She’s always up for a good laugh, whether she’s at work or hanging out with the crew outside of work. And if there’s a cup of Patrice’s coffee involved, even better! ☕😂

Kelly brings so much personality and fun to our team, and she’s one of those people who helps make Big Bend feel like family.

We love you, Kelly, and appreciate everything you do for our clients, patients, and the rest of this crazy Big Bend crew! 💙🐾

Now let’s shine the spotlight on Lilly! 💙

Lilly joined our Big Bend family in August 2022. She earned her degree in Veterinary Technology from St. Petersburg College and went on to become a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)! 🩺🐾

Lilly is definitely our shy one of the group. She’s usually a little quieter and perfectly happy staying out of the spotlight—which, of course, means the rest of us are slowly working on breaking her out of that shell. 😂

Don’t let the quiet fool you though! Lilly is smart, practical, funny, and every once in a while, that sassy side makes an appearance…and we LOVE when it does. 😂

She brings so much knowledge and skill to our medical team and is always focused on providing the best care possible for our patients. We are incredibly proud to have a CVT like Lilly as part of our Big Bend family.

So, if you see Lilly around the clinic, make sure you say HI! 👋😂 She may be shy, but we promise she doesn’t bite!

💙🐾 VET TECH WEEK SPOTLIGHT — SIERRA! 🐾💙

Now it’s time to spotlight Sierra! 💙

Sierra’s story with Big Bend is a pretty special one. She originally started with us while she was still in high school and has grown right along with our hospital. She has worked as a kennel technician, veterinary assistant, and is currently one of the smiling faces you see up front as a receptionist.

But she isn’t stopping there! Sierra is currently in school working toward her Veterinary Technician degree, and we could not be more proud of everything she has accomplished. We have literally watched her grow up at Big Bend, and we can’t wait to watch her step into her next chapter with us. 🥹💙

If you’ve ever spent any time at Big Bend, you probably know Sierra. She’s the one who will randomly bust into song, decorate and color our boards, or somehow convince the rest of us to participate in her latest idea. 😂

She is officially our TikTok Queen 👑📱 and has taken the lead in getting the entire staff to come out of their shells—even when some of us may need a little convincing! 😂

Sierra brings so much personality, creativity, laughter, and energy to our hospital. She isn’t afraid to take the lead, jump in wherever she is needed, or make sure there is never a dull moment around here.

We love you, Sierra, and we are SO proud of you! We can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes you. 💙🐾

Now it’s time to spotlight our OG — Angie! 💙

Angie is our longest-standing employee and has been part of the Big Bend family since April 2015! After more than 11 years with us, it’s safe to say she knows this place inside and out. She is also Dr. Holder’s right hand and one of the people everyone turns to when they have a question or need an extra set of hands.

Now, Angie may be short…but DO NOT let that fool you! 😂 Give her a giant dog or a spicy cat and she’s ready to go. 🌶️🐱🐶 She brings years of experience, knowledge, and confidence to our hospital and is always there to support our patients AND her team.

She’s the person we go to when we need an answer, some guidance, or just someone who knows exactly what needs to happen next. Having someone with that kind of experience and dedication is invaluable, and we are so lucky to have her.

And one more important thing you should know about Angie…if you see food randomly sitting around the hospital, there’s a VERY good chance it belongs to our resident grazer. 😂 Apparently meals are meant to be enjoyed over several hours around here!

Angie, thank you for more than a decade of dedication to Big Bend, our patients, Dr. Holder, and this crazy team. We appreciate everything you do and everything you bring to our hospital every single day. 💙🐾

🐾💙 **Happy Veterinary Technician Week!** 💙🐾

While this week may officially be dedicated to our amazing veterinary technicians, here at Big Bend, we’re using it as an opportunity to celebrate **our ENTIRE team!**

It takes every single person—from our doctors and technicians to reception, kennel, grooming, management, and everyone behind the scenes—to keep this place running and make sure our patients receive the care they deserve.

To our team: **THANK YOU.** ❤️

Thank you for the hard work, the long days, the dedication, the teamwork, and most importantly, the love and comfort you give our patients every single day. Thank you for comforting the scared ones, loving on the nervous ones, celebrating the happy moments, and being there during the difficult ones.

Every person here plays an important role, and Big Bend wouldn't be Big Bend without each of you.

🐾❤️ Happy Sweetest Day & National Fetch Day! 🎾❤️

What better way to celebrate than spending a little extra time playing with your favorite furry family member?

A good game of fetch isn’t just fun—it gets your dog moving, provides mental stimulation, helps maintain a healthy weight, and gives them an outlet for all that extra energy. Plus, that one-on-one playtime is a great way to strengthen the bond you share. 🐶🎾

And we can’t forget about the cats! 🐱😂 Some cats LOVE a good game of fetch too… although they may decide halfway through that you should be the one doing the fetching.

So grab their favorite ball, toy, or whatever random object they’ve decided is their favorite today and GO PLAY! ❤️
