As a privately owned, family-operated veterinary hospital, this message truly resonates with us.
Behind every appointment, every treatment, and every difficult conversation is a team of people who genuinely care about the animals and families we serve.
We understand that veterinary care can sometimes come with difficult decisions, and we never take for granted the trust our clients place in us. Your kindness, patience, understanding, and continued support allow us to keep doing what we love most: caring for your beloved pets.
We are incredibly grateful to be part of a community that has supported us for so many years. To our wonderful clients, thank you for choosing local, supporting independent veterinary medicine, and treating our team like family.
From our family at Riverview Veterinary Hospital to yours, thank you and we stand with you🐾💙
🐾 A message to our community from Braden Run Animal Hospital
We know how frightening it is when a beloved pet is sick, especially when money or transportation is a concern. We care about those animals, too.
We would like to explain how a privately owned veterinary hospital operates and why there are limits to what we can provide.
Braden Run is a privately owned veterinary practice. Our services pay for staff wages, medications, medical supplies, laboratory testing, equipment, insurance, utilities, and maintaining our hospital. Those expenses continue every day. An examination fee supports much more than the minutes you spend with the veterinarian—it helps keep the entire practice available to care for your pets.
Corporate veterinary hospitals have many of these same expenses. Being owned by a larger company does not automatically mean a hospital offers free care, payment plans, or after-hours services.
A nonprofit shelter or charitable organization operates under a different funding structure and mission. Donations and grants may help support its work, along with service fees. Even these organizations have limited resources, and assistance may depend on eligibility and available funding.
A private veterinary practice cannot sustainably serve as a lender or absorb every unpaid bill. Requiring payment allows us to pay our employees, purchase supplies, and keep our doors open.
Our office hours also reflect the availability of our veterinarian and staff. After-hours care requires appropriate staffing and resources. Like everyone else, veterinary professionals need time to rest and care for their own families.
If finances are a concern, please tell us early. We can discuss costs and medically appropriate options so you can make informed decisions. We cannot promise that every treatment will fit every budget, but we can have that conversation with kindness and honesty.
We ask for that same kindness in return. Financial hardship is not a reason for anyone to be shamed, and it is not a reason for our team to be insulted, threatened, or blamed. Our staff deserve respectful communication while they work to help.
Our compassion is real. So are the costs and human limits of providing care.
Thank you to the clients who treat our team with kindness and support our small practice. You help us continue caring for the animals in our community. ❤️
