LEASH BASICS - How to Enjoy a Walk with Your Dog

Are you doing it all wrong?

👀WATCH FLORA correct herself - THIS PROGRESS IS AFTER 10 DAYS OF PROPER TRAINING! SHE'S DOING AMAZING FOR A DOG WHO STARTED WITH US BOUNCING SIDE TO SIDE, BARKING AT PEOPLE AND DOGS ALONG THE WAY!

⭐Boundary - This is learned through proper communication in a low stimulation environment before going outside and for sure before walking around the neighborhood park.
⭐ Communication - the tap on the leash is a level of correction that works for Flora in this environment. There is an understanding that has been created long before we stepped into a real-world environment.

Leash skills are far more than just teaching your dog a position! Dogs have to first be able to control their emotional engagement with the world. Teaching your dog boundaries and what choices are valuable - walk by my side CALMLY = we move forward. Step out in front and engage with the environment = correction which could be marked by collar pressure, forward movement stops, a verbal correction, etc. What matters is the COMMUNICATION. And if your dog can't "hear" the communication because the environment is too overstimulating then you need to adjust the environment in the learning process.

​Our Great Start Group Class gives you and your dog real-world skills in a supportive, small-group setting.

● ​Schedule: Tuesday evenings at 6:30 PM (6-week course)

Recently, we shared that we were upgrading our client system—and we’re so excited that launch day is finally here!

Getting started is easy! You’ll just need to:
