To the horse,

If I were tasked to put in to words all the things you mean to me- I think the perfect words would definitely escape me.

Words can not express all the things you have given me.

I would find it impossible to appropriately say….

How the wind blowing through your mane always changed my worst day

How you’ve held my heart when you let him hold the reins.

You’ve brought me happiness and heartache. Taught me how to handle joy and pain and Reminded me that sometimes the best ones just can’t stay.

You took me to places I never thought I could go and gave me friends I never thought I’d have the opportunity to know.
No one has taught me more and the life lessons you have given me are plentiful….
~ confidence is earned
~ humility is required
~ learning never ends
~ always put others first
~ hard work is the only kind that matters

A day without a horse is not a day I want to know- so here is to all of you and I hope you know I adore you so.

You have to go. You have to enter. Even though you get your butt kicked, you still have to. You have to figure it out. It sure is expensive, but I have to be the guy who tells the kid to go for it and figure it out.

You have to learn how to win. You have to learn how to ride your horse.

Only one guy told me I would never make the NFR. He told me my horse and my partner weren’t good enough. That was a guy who’d been around. He just flat out told me, “You know what, you won’t make it.”

I respect what he said, but I knew he might be wrong. It made me mad, and it made me try harder.
