This 7-year-old pony mare has previously been ridden by kids and has been used as a family pony. She has a solid foundation but has not been in regular work recently and would benefit from a tune-up before being put back into a consistent program.

She is easy to catch, handle, and be around, but she is not a beginner-safe pony in her current condition. She can be a little spicy at times and would do best with a confident rider who can give her some consistency and miles.

Whip is a 2020 South Steens Mustang mare standing approximately 14.1 hands. This sweet, athletic mare has already had a solid foundation put on her and is looking for someone willing to pick up where she left off. She has a kind mind, is eager to learn, and would make a rewarding project for the right person.

After being adopted in January of 2023, Whip arrived pregnant and later raised and weaned a healthy foal. Once her foal was weaned, she was brought back into work and was prepared for a trainer, where she was reportedly ready for a rider to swing a leg over. Due to time away from training, she will need a restart, but she already has a great foundation to build from.

Whip has extensive groundwork and has been exposed to a variety of handling situations. She leads, loads, stands well for the farrier, accepts electric clippers, and has been taught to hobble in multiple ways, making her a well-rounded mare with excellent groundwork.

"The finish line is earned long before the run begins."

That's something I've had to remind myself a lot lately.

As a trainer, it's easy to celebrate the horses that make everything look effortless. But the truth is, some of the biggest lessons I've learned have come from the horses that challenged me the most. The ones that tested my patience, made me rethink my approach, and reminded me that progress isn't always measured by how fast you get there.

As a competitor, this season has looked different too. I've had to walk into rodeos without my main horse and trust the work I've put into the horses I do have. Some runs haven't gone the way I hoped, and that's frustrating. But those experiences have pushed me to grow in ways winning never could.

The finish line isn't earned in the arena. It's earned in the quiet rides when no one's watching, the setbacks that force you to keep showing up, and the decision to keep trying even when things aren't going the way you planned.

I'm still learning that every day, and honestly, I hope I never stop.
