💙🐾 TWO SECOND CHANCES. ONE VERY SPECIAL FAMILY. 🏡

ILEANE HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!! 🎉🥹

Some adoption stories just hit a little differently, and this one has our hearts feeling extra full.

Ileane first came into our care on November 6, 2025. Since then, her journey to finding the right home hasn't exactly been a straight line. There have been hopeful beginnings, unexpected turns, and a whole lot of love from the staff and volunteers who never stopped believing in her.

And on October 12, Ileane got another chance at a new beginning. ❤️

But wait... this story gets even better!

Her new family previously adopted another one of our residents, Buckaroo, who knows a thing or two about second chances himself.

And now... ILEANE AND BUCKAROO ARE OFFICIALLY SIBLINGS!

Two dogs with their own unique journeys. Two dogs who needed someone willing to see beyond their past. And one incredible family who opened their hearts and home to both.

Sometimes finding the right match takes a little longer. Sometimes the journey comes with a few unexpected turns. But every animal deserves the opportunity to find where they belong.

To Ileane and Buckaroo's family, THANK YOU for believing in second chances and giving these two the opportunity to write their next chapters together. 💙

And to our amazing staff and volunteers who have loved, cared for, and advocated for Ileane throughout her journey, this happy ending is a celebration of your dedication, too!

We're so hopeful for this next chapter, and we'll be cheering Ileane, Buckaroo, and their family on every step of the way.

Happy Tails, sweet Ileane!

✨ There are still wonderful animals waiting for their own second-chance stories. Could you be someone's happy ending?

Well… this is a pretty great way to start the week: 28 animals went home! 🎉🐾

That’s 22 cats and 6 dogs who traded shelter life for new families, cozy beds and, more than likely, immediate control of the couch. 🏡

Pictured are Goldie, Chalupa, Snow and Itsy, just four of the very happy faces we’re celebrating this week! 💙🧡

To every adopter who chose one of our residents: thank you for giving them their chance. We hope your homes are already filled with plenty of love, laughter, zoomies and purrs!

There are still so many wonderful animals waiting to be included in our next Happy Tails post. Ready to help us make next week’s celebration just as big?

Meet Ben, your 2026 Face of Barktoberfest. 🐾
Ben is five years old and was adopted by his family when he was just six months old.
His credentials include:
✔ 100% bulldog personality
✔ Professional snuggler
✔ Lover of everyone he meets
✔ Ball enthusiast
✔ Cleaning-tool attacker
✔ Completely obsessed with playing in the hose

A typical Ben walk seems to involve considerably more searching for people to pay attention to him than actual walking.

You’ll get to see this handsome boy at Barktoberfest on October 24.
Come say hello. Ben will be expecting it.

Betty would like to remind you that adoption looks good on everyone. 😎🐾

This sweet, goofy girl will be joining us at Subaru of Riverside on October 17 for our Subaru Loves Pets adoption event.

Betty is a total people dog who loves affection, toys and being part of the action. She does well with other dogs, knows how to communicate her boundaries, and once she’s actually in the car, she’s ready for the adventure.

Getting into the car? That part may require a little negotiation. Betty has a big personality, a soft heart and just enough diva energy to keep life interesting. And she has one more reason to put on her best sunglasses:

DCH Subaru of Riverside will cover the adoption fees for the first 10 pets adopted at the event. There will also be food, giveaways and more adoptable pets ready to meet you.

📅 Saturday, October 17
⏰ 11 AM–2 PM
📍 DCH Subaru of Riverside

Come meet Betty. She’s already dressed for the occasion.

32 HAPPY TAILS! 🐾🏡

This week, 26 kittens and cats and 6 puppies and dogs found their new families! Pictured are Medusa, Scotter, Cheese, Squierrel, Camilla, KitKat, Laika, Ray, Vinny and Naveen. 💙🧡

We are so excited to celebrate every one of these adoptions, but our kennels are full, and there are still so many animals waiting to be chosen.

We need adopters. Every animal who goes home creates space for us to welcome another pet in need and provide another second chance. If you have been thinking about adding a dog or cat to your family, now is the time to visit.

Can’t adopt right now? Please share our available pets. You never know whose new best friend may be waiting for them here.
