๐Ÿข๐Ÿ’™ An Update on Muffin (Turtle #298)

You may remember Muffin and the progress he had been making with his left front flipper. Unfortunately, despite the improvement, Muffin has recently been struggling with the use of that flipper again.

Muffin returned to the Emergency Department at East End Veterinary Center for a CT scan, allowing our team to take a closer look at the extent of his injury and help determine what may come next.

For now, Muffin is back in the care of the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society as their team determines the best next steps for him. ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿข

Please send Muffin lots of love, luck, and positive thoughts as he continues his journey. Weโ€™ve got our fins crossed for you, Muffin! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿพ Meet Envy! ๐Ÿ’™

At just 2 years old, Envy, a hardworking Belgian Malinois, came to East End Veterinary Center after suffering fractures to both the tibia and fibula (two main bones) in her right hind leg.

As an active working scent dog who also competes in dock diving, this injury had the potential to end the activities she loves most.

Our Board-Certified Surgeon, Dr. Michael Larkin, performed orthopedic surgery to stabilize the fractures with placement of a bone plate. Following surgery, Envy worked incredibly hard through her recovery and rehabilitationโ€”and her determination paid off.

Today, Envy is back to doing what she loves. She's returned to her active lifestyle, competing in dock diving, excelling in her scent work, and continuing life as the dedicated working dog she was always meant to be.

๐Ÿ’™ Envy's story is a testament to advanced veterinary medicine, rehabilitation, and the incredible bond between a determined dog and her devoted family.

๐Ÿพ Meet Max! ๐Ÿ’™
A 2-year-old Poodle mix who came to East End Veterinary Center after jumping off a bed and seriously injuring his left front leg.

After advanced imaging with a CT scan, our surgery team discovered that Max had fractured a bone in his elbow again, leaving him diagnosed with a left humeral condylar fracture.

Under the care of Dr. Jin, Max underwent surgery using our state-of-the-art fluoroscopy imaging machine. This allowed real-time imaging to precisely realign the fractured bone and secure it with a bone screw and pin for stabilization and proper healing. No surprise, post-operative radiographs confirmed everything was in perfect position. ๐Ÿฉป

โœจ The best part? Max is already doing great and is expected to make a full recovery! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ’™
He is resting comfortably at home with pain medication and lots of love while his leg heals. Max will be back to see us in two weeks for a recheck and again a few weeks later to make sure everything is healing just as planned.

We can't wait to see Max back to running, jumping (maybe a little more carefully!), and enjoying life again. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿพ

We had such a great time last weekend at Schampooch with the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation! From spinning the prize wheel to meeting SO many adorable four-legged friends, it was a day full of fun, smiles, and community. ๐Ÿถ๐ŸŽกโค๏ธ

We especially loved seeing some familiar faces, like Bowie, and meeting newer additions to the East End family, like Bandit! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿพ

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the East End Veterinary Center table to say hello โ€” we loved spending the day with you and your pups!

Back in March, Turtle #298 (Muffin) from the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society came to East End Veterinary Center after he stopped using his left front flipper. Many of you may remember the CT scan we performed to help determine the cause.

The diagnosis? Suspected osteomyelitis (a bone infection) affecting his left front flipper.

Since then, Muffin has undergone months of specialized treatment, including targeted antibiotics, pain management, cold laser therapy, and physical rehabilitation to help regain strength and mobility in the injured flipper. He recently returned to EEVC for follow-up radiographs...

โœจ The good news? His flipper appears to be healing well!

We're incredibly hopeful that with continued progress, Muffin will soon be strong enough to return to the ocean where he belongs.

๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿˆ August 17 is Black Cat Appreciation Day! ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ–ค

Meet Vera Fang, a very special member of the East End Veterinary Center family.

Earlier this year, our Hospital Director, Kristi, adopted 15-year-old Vera as a hospice adoption, knowing she deserved to spend her golden years surrounded by love.

Vera has a heart murmur and liver cancer, but those diagnoses don't define her. Instead, they remind us that every petโ€”regardless of age or medical conditionโ€”is deserving of compassion, comfort, and a family to call their own.

When asked to describe Vera in just one word, Kristi didn't hesitate: "Spoiled." And rightfully so.

These days, Vera spends her time enjoying cozy naps, tasty treats, and all the love and attention she could ever want.

This Black Cat Appreciation Day, let's celebrate not only black cats but also the incredible joy that comes from opening your heart to a senior pet. Sometimes the shortest chapters become the most meaningful.

๐Ÿ–ค Here's to Vera Fangโ€”and to every senior pet still waiting for someone to choose them.
