We offer emergency treatment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. During the day, the hospital also functions as a specialty care hospital where your pet can receive treatment from one of our specialists, as referred by your family veterinarian. We are Suffolk County’s only VECCS (Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society) level II certified veterinary hospital, which recognizes facilities that meet and exceed their standards and guidelines for quality of care.

💙 Celebrating Dr. Han 💙

Since joining East End Veterinary Center in 2017, Dr. Han has been an incredible part of the EEVC family. Now, after nearly a decade with us, we’re saying a bittersweet goodbye as she begins an exciting new chapter in New Mexico. 🌵💙

Throughout her time at EEVC, Dr. Han has shown incredible dedication to her patients, their families, and our team. From coming in on her days off for emergency ultrasounds to routine follow-ups, her commitment to her patients has never gone unnoticed.

Before she goes, we asked Dr. Han to reflect on her time at EEVC and what comes next:

💙 What will you miss most about EEVC?
"I'll miss the people the most. Every place has issues, but it's nice to be in a place where the support staff wants to help you and has the best interests of the patients in mind. It is also great to work with doctors that are collaborative and that do not have big egos. I don't think there is a Doctor here {at EEVC} anyone is "nervous" to approach."

🐾 What advice would you give someone beginning a career in veterinary medicine, especially Internal Medicine?
"Don't be too hard on yourself. Internal medicine often gets the most complex cases, and it can be frustrating as things are often not as straightforward as in other specialties. You won't always get to the answer immediately, and communication and setting expectations appropriately is important. Try to leave work at work, which I know from experience can be very hard to do."

🌵 What are you most excited about in New Mexico?
"I can't wait to be in an area with easy access to hiking and the outdoors, and I'm looking forward to no humidity and almost no mosquitoes! I also can't wait to see my cats enjoy their new Catio! I'm also addicted to New Mexican green Chile."

Dr. Han, thank you for the years of knowledge, compassion, laughs, and exceptional care you have given to EEVC and our patients. You will be dearly missed, but we are so excited for everything waiting for you in New Mexico.

As temperatures cool and routines change, fall brings a few seasonal hazards for pets to keep in mind:

🍁 Keep pets away from mushrooms and other unknown plants they may find outdoors.

🎃 Keep pumpkins, decorations, and seasonal treats out of reach. Some foods and decorations can be dangerous if swallowed.

🕷️ Continue flea and tick prevention. Parasites remain active in many areas even as temperatures drop.

🌡️ Watch the weather. Cooler temperatures can be uncomfortable or dangerous, especially for small, senior, or short-coated pets.

A little preparation can help keep your pet safe and healthy throughout the season. And if your pet gets into something they should not, our emergency team is here when you need us.

Veterinary medicine is constantly changing, growing, and advancing—and so are we! 🩺🐾

Our doctors, technicians, and assistants take pride in continuing their education and bringing new knowledge back to our patients and team. Recently, members of our ER team traveled to Savannah, Georgia, to attend the 4-day IVECCS conference, dedicated to advancing emergency and critical care in veterinary medicine.

We can’t wait for them to share what they’ve learned and help us continue to grow—not only as a hospital, but as part of the veterinary community. From new knowledge and technology to evolving approaches in patient care, there is always more to learn. ❤️
