As you explore the zoo today, you may notice some of our animal friends looking a little more colorful than usual! 🎨

They're helping create one-of-a-kind artwork that will be featured in the raffles at our upcoming Spring Brew at the Zoo event! Keepers Mackenzie and Becca are working alongside our local artist, using non-toxic children's paint to safely encourage our animals to show off their creative sides. These unique masterpieces will be available to win during Brew at the Zoo, so be sure to get your tickets for a chance to take home a truly special piece of animal-made art while supporting the zoo!

Another wonderful day of haircuts for our fuzzy friends! Our sheep, alpacas, and llamas are now ready to stay cool and comfortable throughout the summer thanks to their annual shearing.

A huge thank you to Northeast Shearing for partnering with us each year and helping keep our animals healthy and happy. We greatly appreciate their expertise and dedication to animal care!

Did you know shearing is an important part of animal welfare for many domestic breeds. Unlike wild animals, many sheep have been selectively bred to continuously grow wool. Without regular shearing, excess wool can lead to overheating, difficulty moving, skin issues, and even attract parasites. By removing the extra fleece, we help our animals stay comfortable, healthy, and ready to enjoy the warmer months ahead. 🧡🦙
