Read till the end for a chance to win a Catz Meow gift card!!

Today’s call for help made me want to throat punch somebody, I’m not gonna lie. Terry from the shelter asked if i could handle a call he’d gotten from a lady who saw someone throw a cat out of a car while going down the highway.

REALLY??? Who even does that?? What kind of psychopath can throw an animal out of a car while driving down the road??? What is wrong in your brain that allows you to do that?

Anyway, he gave me the number and we connected with the lady who had taken the kitty to the Dyersburg Humane Society only to be turned away for her troubles. We met up with her in Halls and took the kitten. The lady said she wasn’t sure if the kitten had been thrown out or if she’d fallen out of the engine - she was just suddenly rolling across the road - but she doesn’t have any grease on her, she doesn’t smell like car, and she’s too small to have gotten up in there by herself. It’s possible mama put her there - or it’s possible some future serial killer tossed her out like an old Sonic cup.

She seems ok, just very annoyed. Our baby cat specialist will be taking over her care this evening. Say a prayer that this is the beginning of a wonderful new life for her.

UPTOWN CATZ TO THE RESCUE!! 🤩🤩

This summer is getting off to a wild and woolly start. This morning my phone went Ding and I about had a heart attack when I opened the text and saw that first picture. 😳 I asked for more pictures and they just made it worse. 😩 We lit up the sirens (jk 🤣 we don’t have any sirens but I feel like I need to get one installed on top of my head will all the emergencies this year) and headed to Halls prepared to dismantle an AC unit.

Happily, that wasn’t necessary. The kitten had gotten her scruff bunched up around her neck and was stuck tight, but we were able to ease her loose skin back to make room for her head to slip out. Unfortunately that’s all we could do for her today. The homeowner is going to try to trap mom and the kittens. They aren’t friendly so we probably won’t be able to place them, but they can get fixed. That’s the most important thing.

We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support we've received recently from our amazing donors. Thanks to your generosity, we've received much-needed cat food, cleaning supplies, and monetary donations that help us care for the many cats and kittens who depend on us every day.

Every bag of food, bottle of cleaner, can of kitten food, and dollar donated makes a real difference. Your kindness helps us provide safe shelter, nutritious meals, clean living spaces, and the medical care our cats need while they wait for their forever homes.

As a volunteer-run rescue, we couldn't do what we do without this community standing behind us. Whether you've donated, shopped at The Catz Meow, shared our posts, or simply cheered us on, please know that you are part of every life we save.

Good morning our wonderful supporters 💕 Cheers to all of you who are so incredibly supportive and positive. To our haters, you get banned today because we don't need your kind of hate. Unbelievable that as much as we do for our community with our own time, money and skills that we even have to respond to comments trashing us. This kitten was left outside our building after hours in the pouring rain. It’s soaking wet. No message asking us if we could take it, no note left, no donation, no thank you. Just someone else’s responsibility dumped on us again. We will be notifying police and pressing charges going forward. We have no cage for this kitten but now that’s our responsibility to figure out 😭

Please respect our intake policies 🙏 We are struggling!!!!

🐾 Important Intake Policy Reminder 🐾

As a private, nonprofit cat rescue, we are a closed-intake organization. This means we can only accept cats when space, foster homes, and resources are available.

At this time, we have an intake waiting list. If you need to surrender a cat or kittens, you must message us first to be added to the list. We are working through requests as quickly as possible, but we cannot take in every animal immediately.

Please do not bring cats to our facility without prior approval. If you arrive with cats that are not on our waiting list, you will likely be turned away and added to the list to wait your turn. It’s not a long wait! Sometimes a day or 2, sometimes a week or 2. We can help with supplies but we need TIME to plan so that we stay organized.

We have recently experienced an increase in cats being left in our parking lot after hours and litters of kittens being brought in without notice and often without Moms. If you message us first then we might be able to make a plan and get Mom too.

These situations put the animals, our volunteers, and our organization at risk. We cannot continue to operate safely and effectively if our intake procedures are not respected.

Please remember:
✅ Message us to be added to the intake waiting list.
✅ Wait for confirmation before bringing any animals.
❌ Do not leave animals in our parking lot or on our property.

Abandoning animals on our property is considered a criminal offense by law. If individuals are identified abandoning animals, we may report the incident to local law enforcement.

We understand that many people are facing difficult situations, and we truly want to help. However, we are not Animal Control, and we do not have unlimited space or resources. Our volunteers work tirelessly to save as many cats as possible, and following our intake procedures allows us to continue doing that safely and responsibly.

Thank you for respecting our policies and helping us provide the best care possible for the cats already in our program. ❤️🐱
