Brass Tacks Horsemanship, LLC

Brass Tacks Horsemanship, LLC Hello, my name is Ginger Salzman. I focus on building a strong foundation for the horse and rider When we work with horses this is so vital.

Have you ever heard the phrase "get down to the brass tacks?" It means to de-clutter the situation so you can focus on what matters. It is how a great foundation is built with the rider and the horse. Although I offer lessons for the mid to low level show goer, I specialize in helping beginner equine enthusiasts learn about these beautiful animals. My lesson students are like a club and often ge

t together for a trail ride on the property or hang out at pony night at the barn. All students have the opportunity to show off their skills at shows selected for their level and interest. I do c**t starting and offer training for the pleasure horse, trail horse, or speed eventer. Have your own horse and want to train it yourself? I'm here to help with that too. You can haul in or I come to you. I am happy to assist you in becoming a better horseman. I am always looking to improve myself. I continue to take lessons with other horseman in variety of disciplines. I am currently working with professional NRHA trainer to further my abilities in the reining discipline and will be working toward my WHC judging certification this spring. Come along with me and we'll keep learning together.

Just like that, things change on a dime. We lost Penny's c**t last night. As hard as it is, sharing this heartbreak with my students is one of the greatest life lessons I can give them. Thank you to the girls and their mommas that helped get chores done, snapped some pics and mostly made sure I wasn't alone. That's what having the farm and the animals is all about; sharing the ups and the downs. Thank you ladies from the bottom of my heart

My favorite thing about sweet Hank is his patience. Some horses are born with it and Hank has been blessed (me too 😉) he will stand all day for me. ❤️

Yesterday Hank was determined the ground poles were going to jump up and eat him alive so of course we had to continue the lesson today with a big scary tarp

A couple students braved the cold and headed to Mandt Equestrian in Oregon for our first show of the year. There was alot of tough competition and Willow's first outing with us. The girls did great even placing in a couple classes! I'm so proud of them and can't wait for the warm days and shows planned for 2026.

What a week with Hank! This guy is a real gem, I might just have to buy him myself!
Hank came off the trailer a week ago today and was as cool as a seasoned pro. He made friends instantly with his neighbor and settled in his new temporary home with zero issues.

You can't beat these c**ts that are raised with a herd in their natural environment. Level headed, responds to pressure and an all around good citizen. Shout out to Michelle Paul / MP Horses.

Video below highlights our first few sessions. I like to get them using their head, then leave them a day or two to let it sink in. 3 sessions in the first week was perfect for Hank. My favorite way to work these guys is in the open field and miscellaneous spots around the farm. Unfortunately it's impossible to get a video out there without a second person so we had to rondavue back to the arenas for filming 😆

What a day!! Who has the best husband in the world? ME! Chris Salzman gifted me (and all your horses) 3 beautiful Amish built shelters. I gifted myself the hose reel and the new gates are finally here ready to be hung.
What a great way to wrap up 2025.
The year of the horse in 2026 with so much more to do but today, I am thankful for God's blessings
