‼️Public alert!‼️

Our hospital had a positive RABIES case this week on a cat that was located in Deer Lake.

Rabies is a fatal viral disease that causes severe brain inflammation in mammals and is spread through the saliva of infected animals.

Rabies can be prevented through vaccination.
Please, if your animals are not up to date on their rabies vaccine, have them seen by a veterinarian
as soon as possible to get them protected.💉

This year’s World Rabies Day theme, “Stronger Together,” highlights a simple truth: rabies elimination is only possible when we work together.🌎

This theme underscores the urgency of strengthening partnerships, improving communication, and aligning efforts across human and animal health systems.

Rabies vaccinations are required by law for all dogs and cats.💉
An infected animal can spread rabies to humans and other animals through bites, scratches, or oral secretions.

From July through August 2026, the CDC received 17% more rabies-related inquiries than during the same period in 2025.
Rabies is preventable through proper immunization.
Please vaccinate your animals against rabies disease.
