The calm before the storm!

Quincey had her first trot undersaddle tonight and we are just simply impressed of how quiet she is! We also took her out for a walk to our outdoor tonight to enjoy the beautiful views!

A little look at one of Quincey’s first rides under saddle!

With a young horse, we like to keep those first rides simple and confidence-building. Our goal is to introduce each new step without it becoming overwhelming and ensuring we are making it a positive experience.

Before we ever begin introducing a horse to the saddle, we spend months developing their foundation from the ground and in the round pen.

We believe every horse is an individual, and there is no one-size-fits-all timeline for starting a young horse. Each horse’s program is tailored to meet them where they are mentally, physically, and educationally.

Our goal is to build a strong foundation, develop confidence and understanding, and make sure each horse is truly ready before moving on to the next step. We take the time to do things correctly rather than rushing the process, because every horse deserves a program designed specifically for them.

During this ride, we:

• Quick lunge to see where her head was at and let her settle in
• Ensuring she was comfortable with Liz standing on the mounting block
• Making sure she was relaxed and comfortable with added body weight
• A quiet little “pony ride” to introduce her to being under saddle
• Starting to install the “Galloping Lane Farm Stop” from day one 😉
• And, of course, LOTS of pats and praise!

Quincey was such a good girl and handled everything like a pro! We can't wait to continue to watch her progress!
