UPDATE: From the Georgia State Patrol Public Information Office, the following are the preliminary findings of a crash investigation conducted by GSP Post 5 – Dalton:

On January 9, 2026, at approximately 8:09 p.m., the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from Post 5 in reference to a vehicle pursuit of a Chevrolet Cruze on GA-2 (Battlefield Parkway). A Trooper responded to the pursuit and took the secondary position. As the Cruze traveled west on GA-2, the driver hit a Nissan Armada in the rear near 2645 Battlefield Parkway. The Trooper and CCSO deputies performed a felony stop before taking the driver into custody. The front seat passenger and rear seat passenger sustained serious injuries as well as a two-year-old juvenile in the Armada sustained injuries. The driver, Thomas Jason Lewis, 44, of Chickamauga, GA, was determined to be DUI and driving on a revoked driver’s license.

One cold fall day I received a phone call from my niece who said a kitten had shown up at her house that was missing fur and had sores on his his back but was very sweet. At the time I was looking for an adult cat to adopt as a companion to my disabled rescue kitty, Lizzie. I took the kitten and get it help but really had no intention of keeping him. He was an adorable striped bundle with horrible sores on his head, neck, and back. He also had a torn ear from a fight.
