We are a small animal hospital located near the corner of Alabama Hwy (Hwy 151) and Nashville Street (Hwy 41), close to downtown Ringgold. We see patients by appointment during normal business hours. 🐾 Labor Day Hours Update 🐾In observance of the holiday, our clinic will be CLOSED on Monday, September 7th so our hard-working team can spend time with their families and pets.
We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, September 8th at 8:30 AM. In Case of an Emergency. If your pet requires urgent medical attention while we are closed, please contact the nearest 24/7 emergency veterinary hospital immediately.

This month, we’re focusing on the four pillars of feline happiness:

Health First 🩺: A cat in pain or discomfort can’t be a happy cat. Since they hide illness so well, an annual check-up is the best way to ensure they feel their best from the inside out.

September is Animal Pain Awareness Month, and at Ringgold Animal Hospital, our goal is to help you "hear" what your pet is trying to tell you.

Because our pets can’t verbalize their discomfort, they often show pain through subtle changes in behavior that owners might mistake for "just getting older" or "slowing down." Identifying these signs early can dramatically improve your pet's quality of life!

Common Signs of Hidden Pain:

Hesitation: Pausing before jumping onto the couch or into the car.

Changes in Grooming: Cats may stop grooming their backs, or dogs may excessively lick a specific joint.

"Grumpy" Behavior: Becoming irritable when touched or withdrawing from family interactions.

Stairs & Flooring: Avoiding stairs or acting nervous on hardwood floors.

Sleep Changes: Restlessness at night or having trouble finding a comfortable position to lie down.

Small Shot, Big Protection 💉🛡️🐾

August is National Immunization Awareness Month, and at Ringgold Animal Hospital, we’re on a mission to keep our local pets safe from preventable diseases.

Think of vaccines as a "training camp" for your pet's immune system. They teach the body how to recognize and fight off dangerous bacteria and viruses before they can cause real harm. In our neck of the woods, staying up to date is the best way to ensure your pet stays healthy all year long.

Why are vaccines so important for our pets?

The Wildlife Risk 🦊🦇: Local wildlife like raccoons, skunks, foxes, and bats can carry Rabies. Even a quick backyard encounter—or a stray bat getting into your house—poses a major risk. Rabies is 100% fatal and can be transmitted to humans.

The "Indoor Cat" Myth 🏠🐈: Many people assume indoor cats don't need a Rabies vaccine. However, bats are the most likely vector to expose an indoor cat to Rabies! They can easily slip through small gaps, chimneys, or open windows, putting your feline friends at risk.

The "Social" Pet 🎾: If your dog visits local parks, groomers, or boarding facilities, they are at higher risk for contagious illnesses like Bordetella (Kennel Cough).

Leptospirosis 💧: This bacteria is often found in soil or water contaminated by wildlife urine—especially after those heavy Georgia summer rains. This is another disease that is zoonotic, or transmissible to humans!

But here is the catch: A microchip only works if your contact information is current. If you’ve moved, changed your cell number, or recently adopted, your pet’s "safety net" might be broken.

Take 2 minutes today to do these 3 things:

Find the Number 🔢: Check your records for your pet’s unique 15-digit microchip number. (Can't find it? Swing by the clinic and we’ll scan them for you for free!)

Check the Registry 💻: Visit the website of your chip’s manufacturer (like HomeAgain or Avid) or use the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup to see what info is on file.

Update Your Info 📞: Make sure your current phone number and an emergency contact are listed.
