The New World Screw Worm has made it’s way back into the United States and is currently present in the states of Texas and New Mexico. As such, Idaho Department of Agriculture has issued the following statement with requirements for ALL animal and pet travel back or into the state of Idaho:
Dogs and cats entering Idaho require a valid Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) and a current rabies vaccination for pets 12 weeks of age or older. Health documents must be issued by a licensed, USDA-accredited veterinarian and explicitly list the physical destination address. Exotic animals (e.g., hedgehogs, non-native felines, canids) have stricter guidelines, requiring specific possession permits or entry permits.
If you are planning to travel outside the state of Idaho with any livestock or pets, especially the high risks areas, please ask our staff for current requirements (208) 745-7791. We anticipate changes to the high-risk areas and to the requirements but we will do our best to keep you informed as we receive those changes.
As always, we appreciate your business and trust in helping you keep your livestock and pets safe and we hope all your summer travels will be uneventful.
