I just got Zoey’s genetic testing back. I am working very hard on reducing GENETIC COI on all my litters. Average genetic COI in goldens is 21% and I got my Maisy/Zulu litter down to 16%. The thought is lower the COI (Coefficient of Inbreeding) and you start getting less cancer, less allergies, less genetic issues which in turn will then increase life span and health! Goose(5) and Zoey(12 weeks) started tracking/ man trailing today. So much fun. I’m going to love it. Thanks Samantha Doty and Felicia Kitzman for inviting me and my girls and for holding the classes. B & B Canine

It’s was a great weekend in Maine, perfect weather, beautiful foliage, great people, and miss Mable Moose earned her WC, aka Working Certificate issued by the Golden Retriever Club of America.

Last good weather night to go to the river. Goose, Brooke and Zoey(12-weeks) Zoey had no fear. Jumped right in! I love this girl!! I think her and my future together is going to be amazing!

Unfortunately Brooke did not pass her final Hips. This means that she will not be bred. Brooke is fairly active and it won’t affect her having a pain free active life.
I did have PennHip done which is measured scientifically as OFA is more of a judgment by 3 vets. The average for goldens PennHip score is .52 and Brooke’s score is .57-right and .54-left. She isn’t much over the average but enough for me to not use in my program. I strive to produce healthy dogs 1st and foremost. After losing my Banana in February and now this. I have no words and am heartbroken cause Brooke is an epitome of a perfect golden. She has never met a person who wasn’t her best friend. She will be spayed and either live out her best life with me or a new family if I decide to go that route.
