What a wonderful Saturday it’s been here at CCHS! ❤️

A few of our lucky pups headed out into the world today with their Adventure Buddies, enjoying some fresh air, new sights, exciting smells, and most importantly, some wonderful one-on-one time outside of the shelter! 🐕

🐱 First things first—it’s CATURDAY!
Our cats would like to remind everyone that despite all the dogs getting attention today, this is technically *their* day. 😂 Come visit our adoptable cats and kittens and spend a little time with them!

🚗 Adventure Buddies are heading out!
Some very lucky shelter pups are trading their kennels for car rides, trails, pup cups, backyard hangs and a few hours of being completely spoiled by their Adventure Buddies today. ❤️ We can’t wait to see where everyone goes!

🚨🐾 OUR PET PANTRY NEEDS YOUR HELP! 🐾🚨

Our Pet Pantry shelves are looking pretty bare right now, and honestly—we need a little bit of everything.

We’re currently in urgent need of:

🐶 Wet dog food
🐶 Dry dog food
🐱 Wet cat food
🐱 Dry cat food
🐱 Cat litter

Our Pet Pantry is about more than handing out bags of food. It’s about helping families through a difficult stretch so that their pets can stay where they belong—at home with the people who love them. ❤️

A bag of food or a case of cans might seem like a small thing, but for a family trying to make ends meet, it can be the difference between worrying about how they’ll feed their pet and knowing they have one less thing to worry about.

Anything helps. One bag. One case. One box of litter. It all adds up and goes directly back out into our community.

🚨🐾 LAST CALL FOR ADVENTURE BUDDIES! 🐾🚨

What are you doing tomorrow? Because we know a few shelter dogs who would LOVE to make plans with you. 👀❤️

Today is your LAST CHANCE to register for Adventure Buddies Day tomorrow!

Take one of our pups out of the shelter for a few hours and give them the kind of Saturday every dog deserves. Hit the trails, go for a car ride, grab a pup cup, explore a dog-friendly store, hang out in the backyard, or just find somewhere peaceful to relax together.

You bring the time.
We provide the pup.
Together, you give a shelter dog one REALLY good day. 🐶

🐾 FOSTER FRIDAY: OTIS 🐾

Some dogs walk into a home and immediately know how to live in one.

Otis didn’t.

Before coming to CCHS, Otis had lived outdoors with other dogs. When he first entered foster care, indoor life was completely unfamiliar. He paced. He wanted to be outside constantly. He simply didn’t know how to settle.

But then, little by little, Otis learned. ❤️

Today, this 4-year-old, 60-pound boy rests on dog beds, plays with toys, lounges comfortably inside and follows his foster dad around the property like he’s always belonged there.

He’s made wonderful progress with house training and has done well with the other dogs in his foster home after proper introductions. He’s also lived peacefully around cats and has even been completely unfazed by the horses!

Otis is still learning in one important area: trusting unfamiliar people. He can be nervous with strangers and needs slow introductions, but his foster family has already watched him make real progress with people he sees regularly.

He isn’t looking for a home filled with constant visitors or trips to crowded places. Otis would much rather have a calmer, lower-traffic home with patient people, a predictable routine, and some space to enjoy the outdoors.

And once he gets comfortable? His foster family says he’s the kind of dog who slowly grows on you until one day you realize you’re completely attached. 🥹

Otis has already learned so much about what it means to live in a home.

Now he just needs one to call his own.

Listen… things have gotten a little intense around here lately. 😂 Between leaderboard changes, double votes, campaigning, and some VERY determined pet parents, we think we all deserve a tiny break from the competition.

So please enjoy Coco Puff, whose only current concern is being a kitten, causing chaos, and making sure our staff gets absolutely nothing done. 😂🐱

No voting. No campaigning. No calls to action.

📸🐾 PET PHOTO CONTEST UPDATE! 🐾📸

Well… yesterday’s Double Vote Day definitely shook things up! 👀

After all those bonus votes came rolling in, Finn has reclaimed the #1 spot with an impressive 1,610 votes! 🎉

🐶 Finn — 1,610 votes
🐶 Gunnar — 1,022 votes
🐱 Zuzu & Georgie — 3rd place
🐱 Princess Donut (aka Smush) — 4th place

And can we hear it for the CATS?! 😂🐱 Our feline contestants have officially climbed into the top ranks, and this competition is getting GOOD.

Even better news: WE ARE OFFICIALLY HALFWAY TO OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL! ❤️ Every vote, calendar purchase, and reserved day is helping us get closer and every dollar raised supports the animals of CCHS.

And remember, there are more ways to be part of the calendar than competing for the top spots!
