September is National Disaster Preparedness Month!

When disaster strikes, being prepared can make all the difference, and that includes having a plan for your pets!

Here are a few things every pet parent should have ready:

• Keep medical records handy, including vaccination records and medications.
• Make sure ID tags and microchip information are current.
• Prepare a pet emergency kit with food, water, medications, a leash/carrier, bowls, waste bags, and a favorite comfort item.
• Keep a current photo of your pet in case you become separated.
• Know where you can go. Many emergency shelters don’t accept pets, so identify pet-friendly hotels, boarding facilities, or friends/family ahead of time.
• Have a plan for every pet including livestock and other animals if applicable.

Most importantly, don’t wait until an emergency happens to make a plan!

Take a few minutes this month to make sure your pets are prepared, too!

A Little Heads-Up for Tomorrow!

Our lobby will be closed tomorrow from 8:45 AM–12:00 PM while our team takes part in some much needed training!

We’re preparing to make a BIG upgrade to our veterinary software system. Our current system has been with us since around 2012, so it’s safe to say… this update is LONG overdue!

Our phones will also be down during this time. If you have an urgent need, you can still leave us a voicemail. Someone will be monitoring messages throughout the morning for emergencies.

Tomorrow is just our training day, the new system won’t officially launch for a few more weeks. Once we do make the switch, we may need to ask for a little extra patience as our team learns all the ins and outs of our new system. We’re excited about the improvements it will bring and promise we’ll be working hard to make the transition as smooth as possible!

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we take some time to learn, grow, and bring some much needed technology into this decade!
