Just a quick shoutout to my girl, Nikita.

Nikita is the reason I fell in love with training dogs. She was the first Military Working Dog I ever watched work a detection problem or go through any kind of training, and I was immediately in awe of her.

I’ll forever be grateful that I got to be her handler and even luckier that I got to adopt her afterward. Now she gets to spend the rest of her life spoiled, loved, and finally living the kind of happy life every dog deserves.

I’ll never be able to thank you enough old girl. Forever grateful for you.

Taking a moment to think about Ddecca today. She is the kind of dog that gives everything she has, every single time. I miss her everyday, but I’m thankful she’s with a handler who’s taking good care of her. I can’t wait to see her again!

The true professionals in any craft make the most difficult feats feel obvious.

For those who don’t know, the hardest part about rehabilitating dogs with severe behavioral problems is, without a doubt, waking up their play instincts.

makes it look effortless.

Some thoughts regarding Tanner's rehabilitation case. Thanks for looking.

We always knew we were meant for something bigger than the military. Finding our purpose in helping save dogs’ lives changed everything for us.

Too many trainers focus on “managing” behavior problems forever, avoiding triggers instead of truly resolving what’s causing them. But avoidance isn’t rehabilitation.

With us at Affective Canines, we focus on addressing behavior at the root so your dog can finally live a stable, confident, and stress-free life alongside you!

From being the most aggressive dog we’ve ever seen, to this.

Multiple people and trainers alike all told us the same thing, that he should be euthanized. If we went that route, imagine the joy being displayed here that would’ve never been a reality. And the joy for years to come.

A couple months of near-daily shelter sessions later, Prince isn’t that dog anymore. He’s happier. He trusts. He plays.

He’s no miracle. He’s proof that aggression isn’t permanent, and that these dogs deserve more than a label and a needle.
