Our Mission
The Stardust Animal Sanctuary mission is a simple one: We are driven to rescue the ones left behind. The animals who call Stardust home come to the sanctuary worn down emotionally, physically and at risk of being euthanized or slaughtered. All beings deserve to live in a safe, loving environment for the rest of their days. For 50+ rescued companion animals and those whom society label
s as “food,” Stardust Animal Sanctuary is a forever home and safe haven. Our sanctuary journey began in 2001 with a few horses and dogs in need. We took them under our wings to treat their intensive physical and emotional injuries with the intention of finding them permanent, adoptive homes. What we found, however, was that most of these beings did not thrive in their new homes. Time and again, they were returned to the sanctuary by their adoptive families. We soon realized that our mission was not to serve as a temporary stop on these beings’ journeys. Their lives before Stardust had been consumed with tremendous pain and fear. It would take much more time - in fact, a lifetime. Our mission evolved from rescue and adopt to rescue and lifetime care. We are our animal residents’ forever safe sanctuary. When visitors leave our gates, we hope they take with them a sense of peace and calmness and an understanding that whether they’ve met a dog, horse, cow, chicken or pig, the Stardust animals and those just like them are sentient beings worthy of our love and compassion. We can only save a few but their voices speak volumes for the billions of others not so fortunate. The Stardust animal residents touch people’s hearts each and every day. Just like our mission, our message is a simple one - live kindly and compassionately. The animals are depending on us.
