This week is Veterinary Receptionists Appreciation Week, and it’s time to recognize the incredible people who keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

Veterinary receptionists are so much more than a friendly face at the front desk. They are the heartbeat of every clinic—juggling nonstop phone calls, emails, and texts while warmly welcoming clients and comforting worried pet parents in person. They are the first voice you hear when you call and the last smile you see when you leave.
They manage chaos with grace. They multitask like pros. They keep things moving even on the busiest, most overwhelming days.
And through it all, they often endure frustration and unfair criticism for things beyond their control—yet still show kindness, patience, and compassion every single day.

They are problem-solvers, communicators, organizers, and emotional support systems all rolled into one. They advocate for patients, support their teams, and care deeply about every pet and person who walks through the door.
To every veterinary receptionist: thank you for your strength, your resilience, and your heart. You may not always get the recognition you deserve, but your impact is felt in every corner of the clinic.
You truly are superheroes. 💙

1 out of every 75 heartworm tests performed at Greatwood Veterinary Hospital comes back positive for heartworm disease.

April is Heartworm Awareness Month. The American Heartworm Society recommends heartworm testing once a year and using heartworm prevention all year long. Missing just one dose of heartworm prevention can lead to a pet getting infected.

Ask us about today about Proheart 6 and Proheart 12 injection! An injectable heartworm preventative that lasts for 6 or 12 months.

A feral cat in northeast Harris County has tested positive for rabies — a serious reminder of how important it is to keep your pets protected.

Rabies is a deadly virus that can spread to pets — and people — through bites from infected animals like raccoons, bats, skunks, coyotes, feral cats and unvaccinated domestic animals.

The rabies vaccine isn’t just important — it’s the law in Texas.

Keep your pets safe. Keep your family safe.
Outdoor pets are especially at risk, but all pets need protection. Don’t wait — make sure your pet is up to date on their rabies vaccine!

We’re excited to announce that we now offer Bravecto Quantum—a convenient injectable that protects your dog from fleas and most ticks for a full YEAR!

No more monthly reminders, messy topicals, or pills to hide in treats. Just one quick injection from your vet, and your pup is protected for 12 months. It’s stress-free for you and your dog!

And remember—fleas are a year-round problem here in Texas. Our mild winters don’t get cold enough to wipe them out, so year-long protection is the best way to keep your pet itch-free and healthy.

Stop by or give us a call to learn more or schedule your pet’s appointment.
