On October 23rd, we laid to rest a large piece of our hearts. Gala was the personal dog and beloved girl, of CalmK9 Training owner, David. If you knew Gala, you knew how special she was. From her little gremlin looks, the way she initiated play (tiny stomps and tap dances), to her excited response to “Gala where’s your toy”, and her most loyal and dedicated work with David as not only the goodiest girl, but also the most patient and excellent role model for all the dogs that came through the Board and Train program. Gala, quite literally, was always at David’s right side. Her decline was sharp and unexpected, but her last day was a reflection of her life. Happy, off leash play with her favorite dog siblings, cuddles with her favorite humans, and passing away peacefully in our arms with the sun shining down upon her. She will be forever missed and forever the apple of our hearts.

We love a new Board and Train pup! Meet Genghis.

Genghis is coming to us for help with his aggressive and territorial behavior with primary triggers of children, people on runs, and delivery/services workers.

But, we got him covered! We can’t wait to help Genghis find his calm and confidence, and just in time to get on the “Nice List” 🎅🏼

Bingsoo is one of our Basic Bootcamp clients who is working on leash reactivity, as well as his ability to consistently and confidently respond to commands. With show dog aspirations and another dog in the home, having a well behaved, calm pup is a must.

Signs of a good weekend? All those smiling faces! Flashback to just a couple weeks ago when Head Trainer, David finished up Basic Bootcamp with Zeus.

This cute St. Bernard/Rottweiler/Pittie mix was more than a handful for his owners. With reactivity to anything on the streets (bikes, motorcycles, strangers etc) and some real aggression issues, pup and owners had a pretty limited co-existence where they couldn’t go anywhere together or have backyard freedom.

Happy to report, Zeus is a much improved dog and this picture was taken outside a busy museum- the VMFA! With all the triggers that used to set Zeus off.

Dog Training is like parenting, it’s an ongoing relationship that requires consistency and dedication. These three are off to a good start for a great summer and beyond 😎

Meet the new Board and Train pup Koda!

KodaBear is quite the handsome boy but he’s shown increasing aggression towards people, leash reactivity, and is trigger barking at people and dogs while in the car. His parents reached out to CalmK9 Training and we knew we could help.
