My first impression of Green-winged Teal was standing in the rich mud of a Spartina-laden tidal marsh in the Low country of coastal Georgia not far from my home, on a cool November morning at first light. I was scanning the empty pale-yellow and pink sky over a river, looked away for no more than five seconds, and when my eyes returned, a dozen silhouettes with sharp, cupped wings were already 40 yards in front of us. Their sudden appearance startled me so much that my shots blew two panicked holes harmlessly into the sky. My companions were more steady with their guns, collecting two of these small ducks from the now exploding flock. Seconds later, the survivors were out of sight, vanishing into the morning light, leaving me in awe of the experience.

We have reached our capacity for waterfowl this season, and with the exception of Spring 2025 Turkeys, are no longer accepting birds until December of 2025. Thank you to all our wonderful clients who have entrusted us with their birds!
