I’ve said it so many times, but I’ll always continue to say it. Being a dog groomer and pet sitter is everything to me. I care about these dogs like they’re my own and I always will. They all leave paw prints on my heart and getting to train them from a young age to not be afraid of grooming and gaining their trust and love is something I take very seriously. This one right here though just hits different…. Poppy has been in my life since she was a tiny maaaybe 9 week old puppy that could fit in the palm of my hand. I remember her first puppy appointment when I went to introduce myself and I cleaned up around her little eyes and gave her a cute bow. It was love at first sight. I wasn’t technically taking new clients at the time, but I couldn’t say no to that face. Can you blame me? Since then I’ve seen her every 6 weeks for grooming. Then eventually they needed a pet sitter and I had moved out on my own and when no one can tell you no to how many animals you can have anymore it’s like a dream come true for a girl like me so I said yes! She became my first pet sitting client. The one that started it all. The one who showed me the ropes on how to separate to feed, learn different dogs potty habits, their quirks, and exactly how much space she likes to take up in my bed. 😂 I’ve spent many Christmases, thanksgivings, Easter’s etc with her right with me and my dogs at my mom’s house because she was like a part of the family. Where me and my dogs went, Poppy went. She was there when I had Lahey my first dog I lost in my adult life. Then she was there when I adopted Chichi and showed him the ropes by hosting WWE matches in my living room, on my couch, on my bed, on top of me.. 🤣 they became the best of friends. Truly inseparable. Chi has never loved a dog as much as he loved his Poppy. These last 4 years Poppy has been a huge part of my life. When she came in for grooms I’d have her off leash and she’d just follow me down the hall like a little duckling. 🐥 I was her person outside of her family and she was like my own dog. I didn’t see her as any different. I never will. Today I had to say goodbye to Poppy. She was only 4. Way too young. But she was suffering From a genetic condition that worsened really rapidly this last weekend. Her mom caught it as soon as she possibly could and brought her in right away. Unfortunately, it was just too progressed and her prognosis wasn’t good. Her family made the heart breaking decision to let her go today. Im so thankful her mom called me and I got the chance to say goodbye to my girl. Chichi even came along too to see his girlfriend. Im forever grateful for the spot I had in Poppy’s life and her family’s. I’ll miss and love you forever papas fritas, poppers, papi chulo. You were full of s***k and so much love. Youll forever have a place in my heart. Until we meet again, my sweet angel. 🤍🫶🏼🌈
